Ranji Trophy 2018-19 and Irani Cup champions Vidarbha pocketed their second straight win after they beat Uttar Pradesh by 10 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali 2019 Super League Group B stage on Sunday.
Put into bat at the Emerald High School Ground in Indore, Vidarbha, who had beat Delhi on Friday, finished at 143/7 with opener Atharva Taide top scoring with 41 off 37 which included three boundaries and two sixes. (ALSO READ: Bengal beat Jharkhand for second win)
None of the other batsmen managed to register any significant scores. Shalabh Shrivastava and Jitesh Sharma added 23 and 22 respectively. Captain Ganesh Satish missed out and scored just 1 before he fell to Ankit Chaudhary in the 13th over. Ravi Jangid struck two boundaries and a six in his unbeaten 19 off 10 that pushed Vidarbha to a decent total. For Uttar Pradesh, Mohsin Khan and Chaudhary snapped two wickets apiece. In reply, Vidarbha bowlers held their nerves and restricted UP to 133/9 in 20 overs. Samarth Singh was looking good for his run-a-ball 39, but he was dismissed by Shrikant Wagh, who was the pick of the bowlers with three for 25 in his four overs. Akshay Karnewar added two for 29.
