West Indies Women started of their campaign with victory over Pakistan Women, beating them by 4 runs. Their next fixture saw them scoring 148 runs against Bangladesh, before winning the game comfortably by 49 runs. Their only blip in the tournament came in the last game, when England successfully chased down the target of 109, handing West Indies their first loss.
India Women on the other hand, started off their campaign with a mammoth 72 runs victory over Bangladesh Women. A brilliant batting display, led from the front by Mithali Raj’s 42, saw them post 163 runs batting first. In their next match, India were unlucky to end up on the losing side, as Pakistan won the fixture by 2 runs under Duckworth-Lewis method. Their hosts campaign derailed drastically, as they ended up losing to England in their third match, after scoring a mere 90/8 while batting first.
