James Faulkner finished with figures of 5 for 27 in his spell, which is the best figures for an Australian bowler in T20 Internationals (T20I) against Pakistan in the group stage match in the T20 World Cup 2016 at Mohali. Faulkner was on a hat-trick twice during his spell, but failed to get one on both occasions. Courtesy of his spell, Australia won the match by 21 runs and ensured that they are still in the hunt to make it to the semi-final of the tournament. They will play against hosts India in a few day’s time and that match will be a straight knockout.  FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Pakistan vs Australia, Match 26, Super 10 stage, ICC World T20 2016 at Mohali

Shane Watson held the best figures before broken by Faulkner in this match. He picked up 4 for 15 in 2011. Dirk Nannes and Stuary Clark too had four-wicket hauls to their names. This therefore becomes the first time an Australian bowler has picked up five wickets in a single innings of a T20I.  Faulkner bowled extremely well in the death overs of this match and did not let Pakistan chase the total down despite having 193 runs on the board. Four out of Faulkner’s five wickets came in his final six deliveries. Australia have not been good from against India in the shortest format, having lost a three T20I series against them recently. Australia  lost to New Zealand in their first match in the tournament and huffed and puffed towards a win against Bangladesh. The win against Pakistan could be termed as their most comprehensive win of the tournament. They have perhaps peeked at the right time, just before their crucial match against India.
