Tamim Iqbal’s historic and mammoth innings of 206, has helped Bangladesh earn a 155-run lead over Pakistan, on Day 5 of the first Test of the two-match Test series, at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Saturday. Tamim became the highest individual scorer for Bangladesh in Test cricket.
Earlier, Pakistan started the day from where they had stopped on Day 4. The Pakistan bowlers failed to do some magic initially as the openers brought up the 300-run stand, followed by twin 150’s from Tamim and Imrul Kayes. Following the lunch break, Tamim steered the innings with Mominul Haque. However, with just 33-runs more added, Mominul fell prey to Junaid Khan, who bowled him up for 21. It was followed by another short rain-break, as out came Mahmudullah after the break, and along with Tamim, put-up a healthy 54-run stand. READ: Bangladesh break numerous records Day 4
In the process, Tamim too created history after he scored his maiden Test double-hundred and became the second Bangladeshi player to do so. He again broke a number of records following the landmark. However, he was dismissed by Mohammad Hafeez after being stumped by Sarfraz Ahmed, as he walked back to the pavilion with a huge round of applause from the crowd and his teammates from the dressing room. Out came star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, and along with Mahmudullah ahs so far put-up an 52-run stand as Bangladesh lead by 155 runs at the tea break.
