Continuing their triumphic run, TUTI Patriots registered a comfortable and convincing six-wicket win over Karaikudi Kaalai, in match 9 of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2017 at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli on Sunday. With this win, TUTI now have two wins in two matches, as they sit at the top of the table with the four points. As for Karaikudi, this was their first loss of the seson, while theu stay at the third spot with two points from the two matches they have played so far. Earlier, Karaikudi skipper Subramanium Badrinath won the toss and elected to bat first, as they were off toa shaky start, losing their openign wicket with just a run on the board, in the second over. There were hardly any partnerships, as the batsmen struggled to get going, and were dismissed at a cheap score of below 20. M Shajahan was the only batsman to have gone past the 40-run mark, as he managed to score 43 off 29 deliveries, while for TUTI, it was V Athisayaraj Davidson, Washington Sundar and Aushik Srinivas claiming a couple of wickets each. During the chase, TUTI too were off to a shaky start, losing their nopening wicket with just 12 runs on the board. However, it was opener Sundar, who smashed a brilliant unbeaten 62, while the other batsmen did manage to support him cehaply at the other end, as with just seven balls to spare, TUTI achieved the target successfully, while Sundar was adjudged the Man of the Match.
