United Arab Emirates sealed the four match series against Afghanistan by virtue of a comfortable victory by a sizable margin of 30 runs at the Dubai Cricket Academy. The win was achieved on the back of useful contributions from Andri berenger and Shaiman Anwar who scored valuable half centuries and Rohan Mustafa who ripped through the Afghanistan middle order helping his side defend a modest total of 258. For Afghanistan  the only notable contribution during the day was also the best performance of the match by an individual, that was Hamid Hassan’s 5 for 45 which went in vain.

in pursuit of a very gettable 258, Afghanistan would have fancied their chances. Their Skipper Nawroz Mangal took the attack to the UAE bowlers even as they lost an early wicket. He raced to 48 of 47 balls, a knock that included seven hits to fence along the ground and one over it. The skipper did the bulk of the scoring as he and Afsar Zazia added 55 runs in quick time before Zazia’s defences were breached by Fahad Alhashmi who bowled him for a painfully slow 14.

The wicket of Zazia seemed to have broken the rhythm of Mangal as he followed suit in a matter of 13 runs. Afghanistan found themselves in a hole at 75 for three with majority of their batting fire power back in the hut. They failed to recover from the Jolt of Mangal’s wicket, as the incoming batsmen struggled to keep up with the required run-rate or keep their wickets in tact eventually to be bowled out 30 runs short of the UAE total of 258.

Earlier during the day The Afghanistan bowlers had done well to keep the UAE run-rate in check by picking up wickets at regular intervals. Hamid Hassan was the wrecker in chief with the ball as he finished with career best figures of 5 for 45 but useful contributions from Andri Berenger and Shaiman Anwar Propelled the UAE score to a competitive 258 from their 50 overs.
