Michael Clarke, who announced his retirement from international cricket after the end of the Ashes 2015, made a blunder during a press meet in at a press conference a few days ago. Interestingly, the cricket fraternity failed to pick it up and make it viral on the social media, especially when the modern day cricketers enjoy massive fan following. Clarke, meanwhile, has said that he wants to lead Australia in his final Test as the captain and a player, and wishes to score runs for his country. Clarke has been in a poor form in the past 12 months, which continued in the Ashes 2015 wherein he managed only 117 runs at a poor average of 16.71. Clarke will retire from Test cricket as the fourth highest run-scorer for Australia in the format. He has so far played 114 Tests, scored 8,628 runs at an average of 49.30. He has scored 28 Test tons and 27 half-centuries so far, and there is no doubt that Clarke would aim to get a few more runs in what turns out to be the final two innings of his career at The Oval. Interestingly, this is not the first time such a blooper has happened during a press conference involving Michael Clarke. During a media conference in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, a journalist ended up asking Clarke that ‘you have had tremendous sex’ when he wanted to say ‘you have had tremendous success’. The question made everyone split with laughter, alongwith Steve Smith, who was there as well.
England have retained The Ashes after they defeated Australia by an innings and 78 runs at Trent Bridge in the fourth Test. The final Test of the series will be played at The Oval.
