Mumbai Indians have snubbed in yet another gem, as Vignesh Puthur bamboozled the Chennai Super Kings’ batting order in the Indian Premier League (2025).
MI had played a surprise move by replacing Vignesh with Rohit Sharma as an impact snub. Many experts were initially assuming Karn Sharma to come in. The Suryakumar-led side decided to chose the young 24-year-old, who has not even played a single match in domestic cricket match in any format.
This decision came out to be worth it as the left-arm wrist spinner sent CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had quickly scored 53 runs off 26 balls, back to the dugout..
Vignesh Puthur was bought by MI for his base price of Rs. 30 lakhs in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He is the most recent player to have his name as the player with unknown abilities to take the big stage. Vignesh came in and caused a chaos, all because of the Mumbai-based franchise.
As per the reports, Puthur comes from the city of Malappuram in Kerala, and is the son of an auto-driver. he had played for his state at the junior level in the U-14 and U-19 levels. His first instance of coming into the eyes of everyone was last year, when he played the inaugural season of Kerala Cricket League (KCL).
