Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar scored fantastic half-centuries, along with a four-wicket haul by Krunal Pandya made way for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to secure a 12-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

RCB innings began on a shock, as Phil Salt was bowled out. However, the team recovered from that point, as the team was at 73 runs by the end of powerplay. Virat Kohli completed his half century, and was keeping a steady partnership with Devdutt Padikkal, who got dismissed in a few moments. RB was at 100 runs by the 10th over.

The second phase of the innings was just as interesting as the first phase. RCB was going strong till the 14th over, but then the lineup faced a shock as Virat Kohli and Liam Livingstone got dismissed by the 15th over. These quick wickets did not alter the team’s mojo as in the final 5 overs, the Bengaluru batters managed to go from 151 runs to 221 runs by the time their innings came to an end.

Mumbai Indians began their innings on a shaky start, as Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton were dismissed in the powerplay, and MI was at 54/2 by the end of powerplay. By the time half innings were complete, MI could only manage to reach the score of 84 runs for the loss of Will Jacks in the 10th over as well.

After half-inning mark, the match faced a turning point as Suryakumar Yadav got dismissed by the 12th over, and MI was not even at 100 runs, at 97/4. However, Hardik Pandya then stepped up with his explosive batting, along with Tilak Varma, saving the team from a shaky inning. He pushed the team total to over 150 in just three overs as MI needed 65 runs in last 5 overs.

The final 5 overs saw Tilak Varma completing his half century, and getting dismissed soon afterwards. Hardik Pandya was not late to follow, while missing out on his fifty. The team seemed done at that point, which was exactly what happened, as MI eventually managed to post only 209/9 on the board.
