India Test captain Virat Kohli has been pretty active on his social media account over past few days. Thanks to persistent rains that ended the final Test against West Indies in draw. Kohli got to know about his childhood coach Raj Kumar Sharma receiving the Dronacharya Award on Monday. He was delighted to know about the same and mentioned on his tweets, “Congratulations Raj Kumar Sir. All the hard work behind the bigger picture never gets noticed.” He further said, “I am delighted for you on getting the Dronacharya Award.” In the past Kohli has attributed his success in international cricket to coach Raj Kumar many a times. He had also mentioned that it was because of Raj Kumar’s efforts, Kohli was part of Indian cricket team. Meanwhile, there is also good news for Team India as their Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane won the Arjuna Award on Monday.
He is among the 15 sportspersons to be honoured with this award. Last year, Rohit Sharma was bestowed with the award. Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have also been rewarded for the same.
Rahane, who made his Test debut for India in 2013, has established himself as one of the pillars in the Indian Test side, and was awarded the team’s vice-captaincy ahead of their tour of West Indies. ALSO READ: List of Indian cricketers winning Arjuna Award

The Dronacharya Award is presented for outstanding work in the field of coaching, and Raj Kumar was well deserved candidate for having discovering a talented and a legendary cricketer in the making like Kohli at the age of 27. Raj Kumar has played 9 First-Class matches in his career span.
