Indian team won over Australia by 5 wickets in the semifinal of the Champions Trophy 2025. Virat Kohli found his form and momentum in this clash, and was the main player who made way for the team to victory. With this victory, the Men in Blue have secured their place in final of the Champions Trophy 2025.
Australian innings:
At the toss, Australia had won the and opted to bat first. However, the Aussie bating lineup fell prey to the spin attack of the Men in Blue. Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Ben Dwarshuis, Adam Zampa, Nathan Ellis and Tanveer Sangha all made contributions of less than 30 runs on board.
It was the knocks of Alex Carey(61) and Steve Smith(73) which somehow steadied the innings for the team. After Australia was half team down, it was a matter of time that the lower middle order and the tail enders collapsed. The team was wrapped up for 264 runs in 49.3 overs.
Indian innings:
The Indian innings got off to somewhat of a lower start. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were dismissed within the powerplay. Shreyas Iyer was he next to depart somewhere in the mid-inning. Axar Patel also got dismissed as Kohli was near his 50-run mark. Then Virat Kohli stepped up, found his momentum and kept on playing. He turned out of the match with a score of 84 runs.
Virat was eventually dismissed on the score of 84 runs, as he got caught out in the 43rd over. India was at 226 runs at that point, and were in need of 39 runs to secure the victory. Hardik Pandya then stood his ground with KL Rahul, but got dismissed during 48th over. Ravindra Jadeja then came in and eventually leading the team to a 4-wicket victory.
