Virender Sehwag’s birthday wishes to Anil Kumble and Reetinder Singh Sodhi will leave you disoriented

Virender Sehwag, the cricketer was amusing and entertaining but he has taken the mix of amusement and weirdness (a gentle way to define) to next level while donning the commentator and Twitterati's hat.

India’s Prime Minister is Narendra Modi, Delhi had a garden named after the empire of Lodhis and today’s birthday boy is Reetinder Singh Sodhi. Yesterday, Jumbo was rhymed with dumbo and Kumble with humble. We know it does not make enough sense but that is Virender Sehwag. He has been a nightmare for digital journalists but we cannot help but await his tweets with bewilderment. Sehwag, the cricketer was amusing and entertaining but he has taken the mix of amusement and weirdness (a gentle way to define) to next level while donning the commentator and Twitterati’s hat. Brutal with his willow and same with his trolls, Sehwag has created a niche for himself and kept us busy.

Legendary cricketer and current Indian coach Anil Kumble turned 46 on Monday. He is currently in middle of his coaching assignment as India are locking horns with New Zealand for a five-match One-Day International (ODI) series which the hosts are leading 1-0. Kumble received a flurry of wishes from all quarters of the cricketing world but nothing as insane and weird as his former teammates Sehwag’s wish. The Nawab of Najafgarh, as Sehwag is called, is a huge fan of Kumble and rates the latter as one of the finest captains he has played under.

More was to follow. Tuesday marks Reetinder Singh Sodhi’s 36th birthday. Sehwag and Sodhi were both part of the national side in their early days, however the talented Punjab all-rounder faded to anonymity as their journey progressed.

Sodhi remained a vital cog for Punjab and North Zone, a side both played for, while Sehwag transcended to greatness. Sodhi was a part of India’s Under-19 World Cup winning campaign in 2000 and it was under his leadership when India won the Under-15 World Cup in 1996. However, Sehwag remembered his good friend on his birthday and came up with another cranky tweet that defies all logic.

Viru Pa, keep them coming and we will keep them covering.
