Former India cricketer VVS Laxman will deliver the Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi Memorial Lecture 2014, to be held in Kolkata on the sidelines of the second One-Day International (ODI) between India and the West Indies.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Laxman, who retired from Test cricket in 2012, will deliver the lecture at a hotel in the city on October 18. While the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is planning to invite foreign officials, the current Indian and West Indies teams, former captains as well as the officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will also be there.

The report added that the event will also mark year-long celebrations of the completion of 150 years of the iconic Eden Gardens.

“I was always fascinated by the knowledge of Mr Pataudi. I was a big fan and I heard stories about him from late ML Jaisimha. Like me Mr Pataudi had played for Hyderabad and I feel honoured to be speaking in his memory,” Laxman said.
