Kumar Sangakkara’s 70 from 30 balls powered Warne’s Warriors to a massive first innings total of 262 in the 2nd T20 match of the ongoing Cricket All Stars League 2015. It was raining boundaries when Warne’s men were on crease. A total of 21 sixes and 22 boundaries were hit in the first 20 overs.Sangakkara shared a 91-run partnership with Jacques Kallis for the third wicket before the latter was dismissed from India’s newly retired cricketer Virender Sehwag. The African smashed two deliveries into the stands and when he tried to repeat the same shot, he found Murali Muralitharan at mid-wicket. Live Cricket Score, Sachin’s Blasters vs Warne’s Warriors, Cricket All-Stars 2015, 2nd T20 at Houston: Jonty Rhodes finishes with two massive sixes!
After Kallis’s wicket, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting joined the party and smashed a quick 41 from just 16 deliveries. He looked unstoppable when he tried for big shots on every ball until Lance Klusener bounced back with a poor start of bowling with Ponting’s dismissal in the 18th over. The same over, Klusener removed on-fire batsman Sangakkara, who looked well on way for an excellent century. However, those breakthroughs did not slow down the runs in Warriors’ account. Andrew Symonds and Jhonty Rhodes were in next who finished innings unbeaten on 19(6) and 18(8) respectively.
Earlier in the day, Sachin’s Blasters won the toss and elected to field. Former Australian legendary opener Mathew Hayden repeated what he is still remembered for after years of his international retirement—giving excellent starts to his side. Hayden laid the foundation of their innings innings with his 15-ball 32 which was inclusive of three sixes and two boundaries. He was well supported by former English skipper Michael Vaughan who managed a 22-ball 30 before getting dismissed in the sixth over. It was another treat to watch former teammates involved in their dismissals. It was Graeme Swann who trapped Vaughan at leg before wicket on the fourth delivery of the sixth over.
Brief Scores: Warne’s Warriors ( Kumar Sangakkara 70, Jacques Kallis 45; Lance Klusener 2 for 45) post 262 for 5 against Sachin’s Blasters
