Axar Patel picked nine wickets in a match, including seven for 54, for Durham in a County Championship Division Two match with Warwickshire.
Indian left-arm spinning allrounder Axar Patel is enjoying his stint with Durham during the 2018-19 County Championships and after making 95 on debut last month, he picked nine wickets in a match, including seven for 54, for Durham in a County Championship Division Two match with Warwickshire.
Durham eventually struggled to draw the match but what was interesting in Patel’s performance was that he got a rather bizarre dismissal.
Australia’s Ryan Sidebottom, the last man in for Warwickshire went on the back foot to flick an Axar short of length delivery, but the ball popped back to Axar after hitting the forward leg fielder’s helmet. That was Axar’s seventh wicket of the innings.
The 24-year-old, who has played 38 ODIs and 11 T20Is for India, signed with Durham for their last six Championship games. He has been in England for much of the summer, having played for India A since mid-June.
