Australian captain Michael Clarke completed his 27th Test century as Australia continued to build a big total on the second day of the third and final Test against South Africa at Newlands on Sunday.
Clarke made 137 not out in an Australian total of 434 for four at lunch, reports AFP.
Australia added 103 runs for the loss of Steve Smith’s wicket on a chilly, windy morning.
With strike bowler Dale Steyn out of action after suffering a hamstring injury on the first day, the key for Australia was to prevent the South African bowlers from making a breakthrough early in the day with an almost-new ball and the spinners were called on for the major part of the day before heavy rain lashed across the mountains to stop play.
