The Indian cricket team is already having a good time in Sri Lanka, post their 3-0 Test series win, and a thumping nine-wicket win in the opening of the five-match One-Day International series. Following the opening ODI win, Indian all-rounder Akshar Patel was involved in an one-on-one interview session with pacer Jasprit Bumrah, in what was actually a verbal yorker. However, both the Gujarat players tackled the yorkers pretty well with both the players throwing against each other with whatever they had. It was Bumrah who started off with a few half-volleys, while he trapped him with a bouncer in the end. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: India vs Sri Lanka 2017 – 1st ODI at Dambulla
Bumrah asked Akshar on his return to the Indian ODI side, to which Akshar replied, “I am feeling very happy. I have returned after some time, almost six to seven months, so feeling good. I was not thinking too much about today’s match [1st ODI]. My plan was to perform how I did when I was first picked to play for India and I stuck to that plan. I didn’t think too much about the comeback and didn’t think of experimenting too much either.” Harbhajan, Ganguly concerned over Ashwin, Jadeja’s ODI future
Bumrah also asked if he was disappointed on not receiving the Man of the Match Award, to which Akshar replied, “The way Shiki bhai [Shikhar Dhawan] batted, he deserved to be the Man of the Match. The good thing is everyone is performing in the team and we are not dependent on individuals.”
