The IPL 2025 clash between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals brought a lot action to the Narendra Modi Stadium, not just in terms of high scores, but also heated moments on the field. A tense face-off unfolded between veteran pacer Ishant Sharma and DC’s emerging finisher Ashutosh Sharma during the death over of their innings.
The incident took place on the last ball of the 19th over in DC’s innings, when Ishant Sharma delivered a sharp bouncer that flew past Ashutosh and was collected by Jos Buttler. Confident that it had taken a touch off the bat or glove, the Gujarat Titans went for DRS. However, the on-field umpire was unconvinced, declaring that the ball had only touched the batter’s shoulder.
Ashutosh didn’t wait for the third umpire’s replay as he instantly pointed to his shoulder and rolled up his sleeve to show that the ball had brushed his body. However, the gesture didn’t sit well with Ishant, who reacted strongly and got into a heated verbal exchange with the DC batter.
The argument escalated, prompting GT skipper Shubman Gill to step in. He then engaged in a discussion with the umpires as tensions briefly spiked.
Although the situation didn’t escalate, Ishant appeared visibly frustrated. After finishing his over, he walked off the field, taking a break from the intense heat of Ahmedabad. However, even as he made his way to the dugout, Ishant seemed upset, as he was seen complaining about the incident to his teammates.
