Dave Cameron, President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has lauded the brilliant performance of West Indies women’s cricket team for winning the ODI series against Pakistan convincingly. West indies women won the home series 3-1 and with it they went past South Africa women to join Australia women at the top of the ICC Women’s Championship table. According to Cameron, the achievement should trigger a revolution in women’s cricket in West Indies and added that he hoped more women will get encouragement by the emphatic series win and will take to the game more seriously. Cameron was quoted by stabroeknews.com saying, “We want to acknowledge the achievements of all of the players that were the result of hard work and determination, and the contribution of the support staff who displayed keen awareness in order to promote the drive for excellence. We hope that the achievements of the team will encourage more young ladies to consider and take up the game in St. Lucia and across the rest of the Caribbean. I want to congratulate the West Indies Women’s team for winning the ODI Home Series against Pakistan Women on behalf of the directors, management and staff of the WICB. It was so heart-warming to watch the team play. The series proved to be competitive and was another wonderful showcase for the women’s game and augurs well for its future.” READ: West Indies women not distracted by controversy in men’s team
