Deandra Dottin, West Indies batswoman has been signed up by Perth Scorchers to play in Women’s Big Bash League 2015-16. Dottin is regarded as one of the most destructive batswoman in contemporary cricket. In 2010, she blasted a century off just 38 balls against South Africa in a T20I. This was the fastest hundred ever scored in the shortest version of the game. Dottin has played 79 T20Is accumulating 1541 runs at an average of 24.85. In a conversation with Cricket Australia’s official website she said, “The fans can look at me as the female Chris Gayle. I’m a big-hitter, I’ll hit sixes. I’m a bowler as well. “I’m very excited and happy to be going to the Women’s Big Bash this year.” Meanwhile, Perth Scorchers coach Mark Atkinson said, “Deandra is a proven match-winner. Deandra is one of the most exciting cricketers in the world and her signing is a real coup for the Perth Scorchers. Dottin is the second West Indies woman cricketer to be signed up for WBBL this year after Hayley Matthews, who will play for Hurricanes. Other foreign cricketers include Charlotte Edwards, Katherine Brunt, Danni Wyatt, Lauren Winfield, Kate Cross, Heather Knight and Natalie Sciver from England. Besides them there are five players from New Zealand viz. Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Morna Nielson, Rachel Priest and Amy Satterthwaite. Two South African cricketers are also signed up for WBBL— Mignon du Preez and Dane van Niekerk.
