England all-rounder Danielle Wyatt is delighted and animated to play alongside big women cricketers like Meg Lanning in Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL). Wyatt is currently in Melbourne, Australia and playing in WNCL for Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit. Wyatt said that she felt odd in the beginning when she had to play alongside other women cricketers in NWCL like Lanning who previously were in opposing teams in ODIs and T20Is she had featured in; but slowly she started loving the new experience. Wyatt was part of England squad in the recently concluded Women’s Ashes 2015. She was recently signed up by Melbourne Renegades to play in Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2015. The 24-year-old right-handed women’s cricketer has played in 33 ODIs and 59 T20Is for her country. ICC World Women’s T20 2014: Danielle Wyatt confident of England lifting trophy
In a conversation with Cricket Australia’s official website she said, “At the start it was a bit weird, I came over at the start of 2011 and played with VicSpirit and now we are all really good friends. But when we take the pitch for our country we are enemies. I’ve got [Australian skipper] Meg Lanning out a couple of times but as soon as we play for VicSpirit we are great friends. It’s awesome to play alongside a player like Meg Lanning. The birth of the WBBL is good for women’s cricket. The recent Ashes series we played in England had crowds of eight to 10 thousand which is amazing, particularly for women’s cricket.” Women’s Ashes 2015: England and Australia expected to rely heavily on spin
“I’m so excited to pull on the red of the Renegades and to play alongside some of the best players in the world. We’ve got Dane van Niekerk from South Africa, she’s one of the best allrounders in the world, and we’ve got Rachael Priest from New Zealand who is coming over to play for us so it’s going to be an amazing competition. I think we meet in early December and have a few functions and team bonding sessions. We’ve got a really young list and it’s going to be a very exciting squad this season.”
