Former county club Yorkshire cricketer Chris Allinson passed away suddenly on Thursday. Allinson, who was just 28, spent his junior years playing for the club’s academy side. Allinson, captained the league side to victory over the MCC last summer, played in a number of clubs such as Guisborough, Marske, Stokesley, Great Ayton and Marton Cricket Club, where he scored more than 6,500 Premier Division runs and took 277 wickets. He also represented England at the under-19 level.
Yorkshire announced the news via its Twitter account on Thursday. “The club wishes to extend its condolences to Chris’ family and friends at this incredibly sad time.”

Reportedly, in 2013, Allinson had claimed the wicket of England opener Keaton Jennings in a T20 match against Durham County Cricket Club.
Former Ashes-winning England captain Michael Vaughan was shocked to hear the news. “This is awful news. Such a great lad. Thoughts are with all his close family,” he tweeted.

England pacer Liam Plunkett too was devasted after hearing the news. “Really really awful news thoughts are with his family at this time,” he tweeted.

“We are devastated to hear of the passing of Chris Allinson. Chris spent last season playing for us and made friends instantly with all those who didn’t already know him, such was his friendly personality. Our deepest sympathy go to his family at this sad time. RIP Chris,” Marton CC tweeted.
