Yuvraj Singh's 'YouWeCan' to fight Cancer in India

Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has announced the launch of ‘YouWeCan’ a foundation meant to fight Cancer by spreading awareness about the fatal disease.

 

Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YSF) will educate people about the benefits of early detection and fighting the stigma attached to it.

 

The stylish southpaw who helped India regain One-Day International (ODI) World Cup in 2011 survived Cancer after an unrelenting Cancer treatment in the United States of America.

 

Through YouWeCan, Yuvraj wishes to inspire other patients to fight the dreadful disease. He was quoted by Indian Sports News as saying, “The journey from being a part of the World Cup winning team to fighting for my life has indeed been full of emotions. I was faced with the biggest high of witnessing India lift the World Cup and the shock of suffering from cancer, both at nearly the same time.

 

“Having experienced cancer personally, I can totally empathise with the pain and difficulties faced by a cancer patient and thus we have launched ‘YouWeCan’. I feel extremely passionate and motivated about using this platform to appeal to everyone, to come forward for early detection, as I have myself benefited from it and it is key to saving your life from Cancer.

 

“I am determined to make a dent in the society and fight for controlling cancer but cannot achieve my objectives without your participation and support. I believe, together You and We CAN. And remember, if Yuvi Can, You Can!!”

 

Yuvraj plans to introduce various initiative though this campaign which includes setting up detection camps through mobile vans, launch permanent detection centres across the country and also a ‘Speak up Campaign’ to establish a base for fighting Stigma against Cancer in association with the Indian Cancer Society.
