Ajinkya Rahane blames Batting failures to be the reason for KKR’s poor standing in IPL 2025 season: Promises to make a strong comeback

After Kolkata Knight Riders lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 110 runs, Ajinkya Rahane stated that the below-par performance by the batters was the main reason for the team's failures.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Ajinkya Rahane stated that the below-par batting performances by key players like Rinku Singh and Andre Russell were the main reason for which the team had such a disappointing outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Ajinkya Rahane highlighted that even though the bowling unit was performing as per the expectations, three of four of their main batters failing to perform was the reason for their dismal campaign. The 2025 season for KKR came to an end with a 110-run defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

It’s just that for us as a team, three-four guys were out of form. Where we faltered was at the batting end. As a batting unit, collectively, we couldn’t do well. Unfortunately, two-three players were going through that phase for us. And that was the reason we couldn’t do well…” Rahane said in a media interaction.

I’m sure they will come back stronger next year…Rinku (Singh), Raman (Ramandeep Singh), all the players, they will learn from the mistakes and come back stronger. But again, they are pretty much experienced enough to handle this situation,” Rahane said.

Heinrich Klaasen smashed a sensational hundred as Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their IPL campaign with a 110-run thrashing of Kolkata Knight Riders in their final IPL match here on Sunday. Klaasen smashed 105 not out off 39 balls, while Travis Head made 76 off 40 balls and opener Abhishek Sharma hit a 16-ball 32 as SRH posted a challenging 278 for 3.
