“Anything close…’: Anil Kumble’s uncut attack on Umpire over Biased calls during Lord’s Test

Indian cricketing great Anil Kumble lashed out at umpire Paul Reiffel for giving biased calls and supporting England when the Decision Review System showed umpire's call on the screen.

The officials handling the India vs England Test match at the Lord’s cricket ground has left number of fans unimpressed. There have been a lot of calls that have been “umpire’s call” as per the Decision Review System (DRS). Speaking about some of these controversial calls, Indian cricketing great nil Kumble sent an uncut attack over Paul Reiffel- the umpire of the Lord’s Test- for favouring the English side.

Anil Kumble spoke about his view on the decision of the umpire after he saw one of Mohammed Siraj’s deliveries hitting Joe Root on the stumps. The umpire did not give a reaction and the Indian team asked for a review. Even though the ball was shown hitting the stumps, it was the umpire’s call- to which the decision was still not out.

It seems Paul Reiffel has decided that it is not going to be out. Anything close, not out,” Anil Kumble said in the commentary panel as he launched a direct attack at the umpire.
