Royal Challengers Bengaluru star batter Devdutt Padikkal has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL 2025, following a hamstring injury in his right leg.

Devdutt Padikkal started his IPL 2025 season on a strong note as he scored 247 runs in 10 matches, which included two half-centuries. Padikkal was acquired by RCB for Rs 2 crore in IPL mega auction in Jeddah.

RCB has named Mayank Agarwal as Devdutt Padikkal’s replacement. He has been signed for ₹1 crore. “Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have signed Mayank Agarwal as an injury replacement for Devdutt Padikkal for the remainder of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.Devdutt Padikkal, who played 10 matches for RCB this season and scored 247 runs with the help of two half-centuries, sustained an injury to his right hamstring.” IPL’s statement read

Mayank Agarwal has played a total of 127 matches in the IPL, scoring 2,661 runs over the course of his tournament career. Mayank has scored 13 half-centuries and also has a century to his name. “Mayank Agarwal has played 127 IPL matches so far, scoring 2661 runs. He has 1 IPL hundred and 13 fifties against his name.He joins RCB for INR 1 Crore,” IPL’s statement read.

Mayank started his IPL carrer with RCB

Mayank Agarwal began his IPL journey with RCB and has represented multiple teams since then. His most recent appearance came in IPL 2024 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), where he had a disappointing season, managing only 64 runs in four matches. He has previously played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Rising Pune Supergiant, Punjab Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

RCB is in second place in the IPL points table.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru is currently in second place in the IPL 2025 points table with 16 points from 11 matches. RCB will face Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 12th and is just one win away from playoff qualification.
