‘can swing the ball both ways…’: Former Indian star names Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement for Manchester Test

Speaking about the topic of Jasprit Bumrah missing the Manchester Test, former Indian star Ajinkya Rahane has stated that Arshdeep Singh can be a good replacement.

As India and England are currently engaged in a five-match Test series, with the hosts having the lead of 2-1, the workload management of Jasprit Bumrah has been a widely discussed topic. Since Bumrah was declared to play only three of the five matches, his inclusion in the Manchester Test is a big question that might be in everyone’s mind.

Though experts are urging the Indian team management to feature Jasprit Bumrah in both the remaining matches, former Indian star cricketer Ajinkya Rahane has given a simple solution to this issue and named another player that can be named in the XI. Rahane stated that in case Bumrah does not play, Arshdeep Singh can be taken as an ideal replacement.

If Bumrah is not playing, Arshdeep is the guy. Because in England, you need a left-arm seamer who can swing the ball both ways, and also, with a different angle, he can create that rough for the spinners. So, if Bumrah doesn’t play, Arshdeep should play the next one,” Rahane said in his YouTube channel.

Arshdeep Singh is an experienced T20I player- having taken 99 wickets in 63 matches. However, the 26-year-old left-armer is yet to make his debut in whites, which might even take some time as he was hit during India’s training session ahead of the Manchester Test and was taken to the doctor.
