Fakhar Zaman’s replacement: Imam-ul-Haq’s performance in ODI matches against India

Imam-ul-Haq has been named as the replacement for Fakhar Zaman, who has been ruled out of entire Champions Trophy 2025 due to an injury he faced during the series opening clash against New Zealand. Here is the ODI record of the player against India.

Fakhar Zaman, the star of Pakistan in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final has been ruled out from the entirety of 2025 edition of the tournament due to an injury in the clash against New Zealand. Imam-ul-Haq is named as his replacement.

Imam-ul-Haq faced India for the first time in ODI during the 2018 Asia Cup, where he scored just 2 runs. The Men in Green lost that match by eight wickets. In the very next match of the same Asia Cup 2018, he got dismissed lbw by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Imam-ul-Haq scored 10 runs, and Pakistan eventually lost by 9 wickets.

Imam made his next ODI appearance against India in ODI World Cup 2019. When the team was chasing 337, he got dismissed lbw by Vijay Shankar after scoring single-digit score once again. India won that match by DLS method.

After the 2019 clash, Imam tried to redeem himself for his dismal performances. During the Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan was chasing a target of 357. Imam came in to bat, but got dismissed after playing just 18 balls and scoring 9 runs. Pakistan lost that match also, and by a massive margin of 228 runs.

In his record against the Men in Blue, Imam’s highest scored highest ODI runs during the 2023 ODI World Cup. He performed significantly well compared to previous outings and scored 36 runs in 38 balls. However, Pakistan lost that match as well, by a margin of seven wickets.
