Gautam Gambhir in intense huddle as Shubman Gill and others skip their training session in Lord’s, Jasprit Bumrah in full power

Before the third Test between India and England at the Lord's cricket ground, there was an optional training session held at the place. Gautam Gambhir was seen having intense conversation with other staff members, whereas Shubman Gill and some other players did not even attend the session.

Following their record-making victory at the Edgbaston Test on Sunday, the Indian team has now moved to Lord’s cricket ground for the third match of the five-match series. As there is just a three-day gap between the second and third clash of the series, the visitors had an optional training session.

As per a report by Times of India, the pitch at Lord’s looked “lush and green“, which implies that there is going to be a lot of advantage to seamers. The team management also had a quick look at the ground, which even led to deep conversations between Gautam Gambhir and rest of the coashes.

The intensity of the chat, combined with the visibly green top, suggests that India’s strategy may revolve around exploiting any assistance for their quicks,” the report read.

Since the training session was optional, it led to Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Akash Deep, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj not attending the training. This might have been mostly because of the fact that the players had left Birmingham only the previous day.

Apart from that, the focus was on Jasprit Bumrah, who is set to return to the playing XI after being rested from the Edgbaston Test because of workload management. In a report by RevSportz, Bumrah was giving his 100% for 45 minutes in the nets, and even had a conversation with Gautam Gambhir.
