Bangladesh did reasonably well to post 278 for 7 in 50 overs in the first ODI versus South Africa. Nonetheless, they were 20-25 runs short. However, the way Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla humiliated them, any total would have been surpassed with ease. De Kock remained unbeaten on 168* while Amla gave him solid company remaining not out at 110*. As a result, Proteas chased down the total in 42.5 overs and go 1-0 up in the series.

Earlier, Mushfiqur Rahim led Bangladesh’s charge on a batting-friendly track. Opting to bat, Bangladeshi batters got starts but only Rahim converted it into three figures. He, thus, became the 1st Bangladeshi to score a hundred in the African nation.
