In one of the most anticipated clashes of the year, India will take on Australia in a series of five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) later this month. The series will be played in Australia and that’s what makes it more difficult for the Men in Blue. The Indian selectors sprang up some surprises when they named the touring squad. The side led by MS Dhoni has a good mix of youth and experience.

By dropping Suresh Raina and with selection of the likes of Rishi Dhawan, Gurkeerat Singh, Barinder Sran and Manish Pandey, the Indian selectors have made a strong statement to seniors that there is no place for complacency. (Read more: India tour Australia 2015-16: Unfortunate for Shreyas Iyer, Amit Mishra and co. but selectors have done well)

It is not just the Indian selectors who have invested in youth; their counterparts too did the same when they announced the 13-member squad for the ODI series. Australia dropped Shane Watson from the squad and fast-tracked two uncapped players into the national side. Left-arm pacer Joel Paris and right-arm pacer Scott Boland have been picked despite having little experience at even the domestic circuit.
