Lhuan completed his century in 112 balls, which included seven fours and three sixes. With a century innings, he recovered South Africa from the initial setbacks when the team lost four wickets for 55 runs.

Before Lhuan, the youngest player to score a century in Tests for South Africa was Graeme Pollock. He achieved this feat against Australia in Sydney in 1964 at the age of 19 years and 317 days. With this century, he was the youngest player to score a Test century for South Africa at that time. Pollock is considered one of the greatest left-hand batsmen in Test cricket, and his Test average was 60.97.
