‘Tamasha’: Ravi Shastri’s unfiltered conclusion on Shubman Gill-Zak Crawley controversy

Speaking about the on-field altercation between Shubman Gill and Zak Crawley, Ravi Shastri called the exchange to be a 'tamasha'.

Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri had his views on Shubman Gill and his verbal spat with England opener Zak Crawley during Day 3 of the 3rd Test of the five-match series at Lord’s. Gill and Zak exchanged some words as temper rose during the final session of the day.

Shubman Gill had accused the England batters of wasting time. While the England side was not happy with Gill, Ravi Shastri stated that he would have done the same thing, and even taunted them by calling it a ‘tamasha‘.

If I were wearing the Indian hat, I would have done all that. We call that tamasha. All that is allowed and you want all that. You can’t just have ‘Good morning…good evening’ and go home,” Ravi said on Sky Cricket.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan feels Zak Crawley’s time-wasting tactics at the end of the third day of the ongoing third Test was “as good a piece” he has ever seen but said India can’t complain as the visitors employed the same approach on second day. “It’s as good a piece of time-wasting I’ve ever seen,” Vaughan was quoted as saying by BBC’s Test Match Special podcast.
