Tamim Iqbalc Kane Williamson b Colin de Grandhomme 126 128 21 1 98.44
43.2
de Grandhomme to T Iqbal, OUT! Caught at gully! Tamim departs. Change of angle does the trick. De Grandhomme bowls this on a short length from around the wicket, angling it in, Iqbal tries to hit it through the off side but is cramped for room. He gets an outside edge which goes straight to Kane Williamson at gully. Cannot keep it down either, so it goes right into the bread basket of the Kiwi skipper. They check for the overstepping but replays show that de Grandhomme is fine. Big wicket. End of a fine innings from Tamim - 126 from 128 balls - but has he opened the door for New Zealand?
Shadman Islamb Trent Boult 24 32 3 0 75
10.2
Boult to S Islam, OUT! That is a real peach. The outswinger takes the first wicket. What a brilliant nut from Boult. This is pitched on a fuller length around off, but Shadman does not cover the line at all. He looks to push it to the leg side but the ball swings away and hits the base of off stump. It has taken 10 overs but the Kiwis have eventually struck.
Mominul Haquec BJ Watling b Neil Wagner 12 46 0 1 26.09
26.4
N Wagner to Haque, OUT! Caught down the leg side! The short ball barrage works for Wagner. This is around the leg stump, from around the wicket. Mominul gets across and tries to get his bat out of the way but is late. The ball hits the willow and goes through to the keeper. The finger goes up on the appeal. Good break for New Zealand just before the Lunch break.
Mohammad Mithunc Tom Latham b Neil Wagner 8 24 1 0 33.33
34.6
N Wagner to Mithun, OUT! Taken off the top edge! Mithun falls and Bangladesh lose their third. Short ball working again for Neil Wagner. Dug in around middle, Mohammad looks to pull but the pace and bounce do him in. He goes through with the pull shot but all he manages is a top edge. Tom Latham runs back from short mid-wicket, keeps his eyes on the ball and dives full stretch to take it!
Soumya Sarkarc BJ Watling b Tim Southee 1 9 0 0 11.11
37.2
Southee to Sarkar, OUT! Left alone, trying to leave it alone but gloved behind! The wickets continue to tumble and Tamim is quickly running out partners now. 4 down and not too many batsmen to come. That flying start in the first session is beginning to be put in the forgotten pages of history now. Short of a length, around off, angling away, Sarkar looks to leave it alone, trying to get his hands out of the way. But the ball keeps on climbing, takes the glove and deflects to the keeper! Frustration continues to mount for Bangladesh as they now look keenly at Tamim's response. The Kiwis are cunningly trying to isolate him.
Mahmudullah (C)c Trent Boult b Neil Wagner 22 43 5 0 51.16
53.2
N Wagner to Mahmudullah, OUT! That is poor cricket from Bangladesh! Nothing but poor cricket. 10 minutes left to the break and absolutely unnecessary. A short ball on middle, Mahmudullah looks to pull it but gets a top edge as the ball bounces a little bit extra. Goes high in the air and towards fine leg where Boult comes in a bit, settles under the ball and takes it easily. That is another one down for the Tigers, and an important wicket just before a break. Mehidy Hasan walks in next to bat.
Liton Das (W)c Trent Boult b Neil Wagner 29 58 4 0 50
59.2
N Wagner to Das, OUT! No threats to the 5-fer! Wagner has picked it up! And no prizes for guessing, it is the short ball that has done the trick once more. A short of a length ball at the hips, Liton connects his pull really well but the ball flies straight to Trent Boult at deep fine leg who is positioned exactly for that. He takes a good catch to his left and at a good height. Bangladesh who were 147/2 at one stage have been bowled out for 234. They will be disappointed, on the other hand, the Kiwis will be ecstatic with the way the day has turned out. Neil Wagner, as expected, receives the ball and leads his teammates on the way out.
Mehidy Hasanc Henry Nicholls b Neil Wagner 10 6 1 1 166.67
55.2
N Wagner to M Hasan, OUT! Wagner has done it again. The short stuff is working like magic and Neil has picked up his fourth. A short of a length ball on the hips and Mehidy tries to uncomfortably fend it on the leg side. The ball hits him high on the bat and goes in the air towards short leg where Nicholls takes a good, low catch. That wicket is also the last bit of action in the second session. TEA ON DAY 1. The visitors have lost their path from a good position. Wagner is pumped up and so is his team. They have picked up 5 wickets in this session after just 2 in the opening one.
Abu Jayedc BJ Watling b Tim Southee 2 4 0 0 50
56.5
Tim Southee to Jayed, OUT! Unbelievable! Another one falls to the short ball. A bouncer on middle from Southee, Jayed makes room and tries to ramp it like he did in the first ball of this over. This time though he just gets an edge. Watling takes an easy catch behind and Bangladesh have lost their eighth. On a tough day, Southee has finally picked up his second wicket. This is BJ Watling's 200th dismissal as a wicket-keeper for the Kiwis.
Khaled Ahmedb Tim Southee 0 6 0 0 0
58.6
Southee to Ahmed, OUT! Bowled 'em! Southee finally goes for the yorker and finishes off Ahmed. That moving ball was too good for the number 10 bat. Nice and full at the base of off stump, Khaled did not read the line of that ball and misses it. The timber is disturbed and the visitors have lost their ninth wicket. Southee picks up his third wicket. The 5-fer of Wagner is under threat.

Jeet Ravalc Khaled Ahmed b Mahmudullah 132 220 19 1 60
69.5
Mahmudullah to Raval, OUT! Caught! Stop the press. For a wicket has fallen. Out of nowhere. And it is the captain who has given the breakthrough. Tossed up generously outside off, Raval gets down on a knee to play the slog sweep but the line is a bit wider and he has to drag it. Gets a top edge which only goes straight up in the air. Khaled Ahmed keeps his eyes on the ball at short mid-wicket, back-tracks a touch and takes it nicely. It was not a high percentage shot any which ways because there was a long on and a deep mid-wicket in place. This is what part-timers can do. Make batsmen lose concentration and play a loose stroke. Nevertheless, a fine innings from Jeet Raval. The 254-run stand has been broken at long last, with the lead reading 20.
Tom Lathamc Mohammad Mithun b Soumya Sarkar 161 248 17 3 64.92
84.3
S Sarkar to Latham, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! A lovely catch by Mithun. It needed something special to dismiss Latham and Mithun has provided it. The ploy to stick with the old ball has worked for the visitors. A length ball, just ahead of a length actually outside off. It is going away with the angle. Latham goes for the drive but the length was not quite there. The ball flies off the outside edge to the left of Mohammad at widish second slip. He dives and takes it nicely. Sarkar is delighted and end of a magnificent innings by Latham. Also, the free-flowing stand comes to an end. Can Bangladesh now make a few more inroads?
Kane Williamson (C)not out 200 257 19 0 77.82
Ross Taylorlbw b Soumya Sarkar 4 19 0 0 21.05
90.6
S Sarkar to Taylor, OUT! That was as plumb as it gets. Soumya Sarkar gets two in quick succession. On a good length on middle, Taylor looks to flick but misses it and gets hit on the pads. Sarkar appeals and the umpire raises his finger. Taylor doesn't think about the review as he knew he was out. He was a goner there. Hawk Eye shows that impact is in line and is hitting the leg stump. Soumya Sarkar did not have good time with the bat but he is doing well with the ball. The ploy to take the new ball has worked for Bangladesh.
Henry Nichollsb Mehidy Hasan 53 81 7 0 65.43
115.6
M Hasan to Nicholls, OUT!!! Bowled! Where has that come from? After going for 149 runs in this game so far Mehidy finally gets a wicket. Flighted delivery outside off, Nicholls misreads the straighter one and leaves it alone. The ball comes in with the angle and goes onto hit the off pole. Bangladesh are up in celebration and Nicholls walks back with his head down. No hiding place for Nicholls and he will be reminded of that by his teammates and friends for a long time now.
Neil Wagnerc Liton Das b Ebadot Hossain 47 35 6 3 134.29
124.5
E Hossain to Wagner, OUT! Caught behind! The fun ends. MAIDEN TEST WICKET FOR EBADOT. Not the best of deliveries, a really wild one outside off, Wagner throws his bat at it and only manages to get a thick outside edge. Simple catch for Liton Das behind and the players appeal but Wagner walks off. End of an entertaining 47 from 35 balls - 6 fours and 3 sixes, in a stand of 60. New Zealand now lead by 275.
BJ Watling (W)c Liton Das b Mehidy Hasan 31 67 2 0 46.27
147.5
M Hasan to Watling, OUT! Caught down the leg side! Freakish wicket for Mehidy and Bangladesh. A dismissal at the stroke of Lunch. A nothing delivery, fired down the leg side, Watling looked to tuck it fine but missed. Liton Das collected and appealed straightaway and the batsman did not even bother to wait. Walked off straightaway. LUNCH ON DAY 3, NEW ZEALAND 605/6, LEAD BY 371!

Tamim Iqbalc BJ Watling b Tim Southee 74 86 12 1 86.05
30.2
Tim Southee to Iqbal, OUT! Caught! The periscope does the trick for the Kiwis! Poor technique costs Tamim his wicket. Could be because of the constant chirp from Wagner as well. He might have been rattled. You never know. Either ways, there was a loss in concentration. Tamim was backing away down the leg side to play the short balls and this time, Southee followed him. He tried to duck but with his ungainly technique of the bat hanging in the air like a periscope. The ball hits the top edge and while he falls to the ground, losing his balance, the ball flies in the air. Watling calls for it, moves to his left and takes it calmly. Tamim is not happy. Not happy at all. He looks at Wagner who is celebrating and then trudges off. Chirping, sledging, attacking, following - have got the better of the Prince of Chittagong. 76 balls left in the day. Can Bangladesh see those off without losing any more wickets? End of another fine knock from Tamim but a sad way to get out.
Shadman Islamc Trent Boult b Neil Wagner 37 71 5 0 52.11
22.3
N Wagner to Islam, OUT! Caught! Wagner strikes! How? Short ball. Short ball. Short ball. My word. He kept pounding and pounding and pounding and persisting with that length and has eventually, reaped dividends. This is outside off, coming in with the angle, Shadman looks to pull but gets a top edge. The ball goes miles in the air and swirls for quite a while too. But Trent Boult runs to his right from fine leg, keeps his eyes on the ball and takes a good sliding catch, with his fingers pointing skywards. Islam trudges off and perhaps this is the difference between the two teams. P.A.T.I.E.N.C.E. Nevertheless, a good knock from the youngster. The 88-run opening stand is broken. Bangladesh trail by 393 runs.
Mominul Haquec Ross Taylor b Trent Boult 8 6 2 0 133.33
23.6
T Boult to Haque, OUT! Edged and taken! Poor shot from Mominul but what a catch from Ross Taylor. Let us describe the events chronologically. Boult bowls this on a length outside off and Haque looks to flay it towards the off side. Gets too close to the ball and ends up getting a thick outside edge. Now, Ross Taylor makes the catch look easy at first slip but the ball came thick and fast. Two wickets in the span of 10 balls.
Mohammad Mithunc Kane Williamson b Trent Boult 0 4 0 0 0
25.5
T Boult to Mithun, OUT! Another one goes! Loose, loose, loose, loose, loose batting. Multiply that n times. Really poor from Mithun. Third wicket in the space of 21 deliveries and the visitors are suddenly tottering. Full and wide outside off, swinging away, Mohammad plays a loose drive, with the bat away from his body, does not move his feet and only gets a thick outside edge. The ball goes straight to gully where skipper Kane Williamson makes no mistake. Well, there is one bloke at the other end, poised to score twin centuries in this Test but receiving no support at all.
Soumya Sarkarb Trent Boult 149 171 21 5 87.13
84.5
T Boult to Sarkar, OUT! BOWLED 'EM! Trent Boult has broken through and he lets out a huge roar. Such a relief for the Kiwis this is, the mammoth 235-run stand had just about started building some doubts in their minds. The ploy of taking the new ball has worked. A full delivery around off, it comes back in a little. Sarkar pays the price of playing across the line as he misses and the ball rattles the stump behind. A great effort by him comes to an end. He walks back one short of 150. Will this now open the floodgates?
Mahmudullah (C)c Trent Boult b Tim Southee 146 229 21 3 63.76
102.2
Tim Southee to Mahmudullah, OUT! Mahmudullah departs! End of a magnificent fighting innings by Bangladesh's leader. Southee bowls it short and outside off, Mahmudullah cuts it hard but does not keep it down. It goes straight to Boult at deep point who takes it. New Zealand are now a wicket away.
Liton Das (W)b Trent Boult 1 11 0 0 9.09
89.3
T Boult to Das, OUT! The change of ends does the trick for Boult. He gets his second with the second new ball. A nothing stroke to be honest from Das. This was bowled on a length and outside off, Das hangs his bat out with no foot movement. He also plays it away from his body. The ball takes the inside edge and then deflects onto the stumps. New Zealand 4 wickets away now.
Mehidy Hasanc Jeet Raval b Neil Wagner 1 4 0 0 25
90.1
Wagner to M Hasan, OUT! In the air... taken! Hasan falls prey to the short ball. It is a well-directed one. He takes on the challenge of pulling it. The ball takes the top edge and goes straight down the throat of Raval at fine leg. New Zealand into the bowlers now. They are just three wickets away from taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
Abu Jayedb Trent Boult 3 19 0 0 15.79
95.6
T Boult to Jayed, OUT! CASTLED! 5-fer for Trent Boult! A beauty to get rid of Jayed. Too good for him. It lands around the leg pole, pitches and then moves away. Jayed looks to defend but the ball misses the bat, hits his pad and shatters the stumps behind. Two wickets away now.
Khaled Ahmednot out 4 13 1 0 30.77
Ebadot Hossainc BJ Watling b Tim Southee 0 4 0 0 0
102.6
Tim Southee to Hossain, OUT! There is a spike on Ultra Edge as the ball passes the bat! Hossain walks back in disbelief as he feels he has not edged it. Southee takes two in the over to end the game. He lands this one on a length and around off, it pitches and then straightens. Hossain looks to defend away from his body but he seems to have got an outside edge to the keeper. The umpire rules it in the favor of the bowler. Ebadot reviews. Hot Spot shows no mark on the bat but Ultra Edge shows a spike as the ball passes the bat. The on-field call remains and NEW ZEALAND WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 52 RUNS!
