England

Batting R B 4s 6s SR
Jason Royb Adam Milne 13 23 2 0 56.52
7.6
A Milne to J Roy, OUT! Roy pays the price for the shuffle! Fuller delivery into the leg stump, he comes way across and tries to clip it fine on the leg side. Misses it and the ball kisses his front pad and then the ball goes onto disturb his stumps. If the ball hadn't hit the stumps, he would have been adjudged LBW for sure. Another failure for him. Smart bowling from Adam Milne as he had judged the batsman's movement really early. Milne successfully draws first blood of this encounter and the struggling innings of Jason Roy comes to an end.
Alex Halesb Adam Milne 56 62 3 2 90.32
20.6
A Milne to A Hales, OUT! MILNE HAS HIS REVENGE! Decides to bowl a slower one and it pays off. Hales is rooted in the crease and looks to whip across the line but the length isn't there for the shot. It keeps a tad low too and disturbs the timber. Hales departs just after his fifty, he will know that there was a ton in the offing.
Joe Rootb Corey Anderson 64 65 4 2 98.46
33.3
C Anderson to Joe Root, OUT! Dragged on! Corey Anderson strikes again! Back of a length delivery outside off, Root goes hard at it. Gets a thick inside edge and the ball goes onto disturb the stumps. He is unhappy and Corey Anderson gets another wicket on a freebie. Another English batsman could not make it big and that could hurt the Englishmen in the end.
Eoin Morgan (C)c Luke Ronchi b Corey Anderson 13 12 2 0 108.33
24.3
C Anderson to E Morgan, OUT! MORGAN DEPARTS! This is an absolute gift for New Zealand and they know it. Anderson bowls a half-volley very wide outside off, it's there to be put away but Morgan only manages a thin feather on it after stepping out. Ronchi accepts it with glee and the caught behind appeal is accepted almost instantly by the umpire. The in-form captain has to go. Good passage of play for NZ here, two big wickets of Hales and Morgan in fairly quick succession.
Ben Stokesc Adam Milne b Trent Boult 48 53 4 2 90.57
37.3
T Boult to Ben Stokes, OUT! Boult strikes finally! Short delivery into the batsman, Stokes goes to play the upper cut. Plays it towards the shorter side but against the wind. The second part makes him pay the price as the ball goes straight to the fielder at third man. Milne settles under it and makes no mistake. Stokes has to depart and New Zealand would be really happy to have him because he could be deadly in the fag end of the innings.
Jos Buttler (W)not out 61 48 2 2 127.08
Moeen Alic Trent Boult b Corey Anderson 12 11 0 1 109.09
40.3
C Anderson to M Ali, OUT! Boult pulls out a stunner! Short delivery into the body, Ali again goes for the pull shot. The ball flies towards the backward square leg region. Boult leaps and dives to his left to pull a special catch out of thin air. Anderson gets his third and Moeen Ali has to walk back to the hut.
Adil Rashidlbw b Mitchell Santner 12 11 1 0 109.09
43.6
M Santner to A Rashid, OUT! Umpire's call stays! Angling in from outside off, the ball does not spin much. Adil Rashid tries to clip it on the leg side but fails to make contact. Gets hit flush on the back thigh and the players appeal. The umpire acknowledges it and rules it out. England opt for the review. Replays show that it was plumb as there was no bat involved. The ball was pitched outside off, impact was in line and the ball was going on to hit the stumps.
Liam Plunkettc Tim Southee b Adam Milne 15 10 1 1 150
48.6
A Milne to L Plunkett, OUT! Milne gets his third! Short delivery into the batsman, Plunkett goes for the pull. Gets a top edge on it and the ball flies towards the fielder at mid on. Southee settles under the skier and takes it comfortably.
Mark Woodc Ross Taylor b Tim Southee 0 1 0 0 0
49.2
Tim Southee to M Wood, OUT! Southee strikes! Shorter delivery outside off, Mark Wood goes back a bit and tries to slap it. Gets it straight towards the fielder at covers. Ross Taylor excepts it gleefully and another wicket bites the dust.
Jake Ballc Trent Boult b Tim Southee 0 1 0 0 0
49.3
Tim Southee to J Ball, OUT! Boult pulls out another stunner! Short delivery into the body, Jake Ball tries to fend it. Gets it off the bat towards the square leg region. Boult comes running in from mid-wicket and takes a superb diving catch. ENGLAND ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 310!

Martin Guptillc Joe Root b Ben Stokes 27 33 4 0 81.82
13.3
Ben Stokes to M Guptill, OUT! STOKES HAS THE LAST LAUGH! Must say this is excellent captaincy from Morgan that has brought about this wicket. On most days against most teams, this would be a slice down to third man for a single. Not today as there is a man at where a proper fifth slip would be. Guptill's wild drive gets a thick slice that goes straight to Root who is stationed there. He takes the catch with ease and this is a huge blow to NZ's chances in this game.
Luke Ronchi (W)b Jake Ball 0 1 0 0 0
0.4
J Ball to L Ronchi, OUT! Golden duck for Ronchi! Jake Ball does the talking with the ball this time. Angles this in from a length around off, Ronchi tries to defend it but gets beaten by pace. He finds his timber disturbed and Ronchi has to walk back to the hut. Just the start England needed.
Kane Williamson (C)c Jos Buttler b Mark Wood 87 98 8 0 88.78
30.2
M Wood to K Williamson, OUT! Wood gets the much-needed breakthrough! Back of a length delivery outside off, Williamson stays tall and tries to dab it down towards third man. Gets surprised by the extra bounce as Kane gloves it. Buttler accepts it gleefully and sends the Kiwi skipper back to the hut. The Kiwis still need 153 from 118 balls.
Ross Taylorc Joe Root b Jake Ball 39 59 3 0 66.1
33.4
J Ball to R Taylor, OUT! BIG WICKET! Taylor succumbs to the pressure of the asking rate which was mounting a bit. Tries to whip a fuller ball uppishly but only pops it to short mid-wicket where Root takes an easy catch. No glory stuff from Ross today and New Zealand have lost both their set batsmen in fairly quick succession. England on top.
Neil Broomlbw b Adil Rashid 11 21 0 0 52.38
37.6
A Rashid to N Broom, OUT! NO, IT HASN'T! Rashid has a wicket to his name. Lovely leg break around middle, Broom gets across to sweep but is struck on the back leg. Huge lbw shout and it's given by the umpire. After a chat with Anderson, the review is taken by Neil. No bat involved as confirmed by Hot Spot and Snicko. Ball Tracking shows the impact in line and going to clip the top of off stump. Umpire's call and so the on-field decision will stay. Broom has to go. NZ continue to implode. This run chase has hit a road block.
Jimmy Neeshamc Alex Hales b Liam Plunkett 18 14 1 1 128.57
36.6
L Plunkett to J Neesham, OUT! NEESHAM FALLS! Plunkett drags his length short and forces a pull shot. It's struck fairly well but manages to pick out Hales at deep mid-wicket to perfection. England chipping away at the wickets with some wily bowling. NZ are under the pump. 120 needed from 78 balls.
Corey Andersonc Alex Hales b Liam Plunkett 10 15 1 0 66.67
42.5
L Plunkett to C Anderson, OUT! FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR NZ! Anderson looks to go big on the leg side but miscues it high towards deep square leg. Hales settles under the skier comfortably to send the Kiwi all-rounder on his way. That should be the game for England. Not that Anderson or NZ were threatening to gun this down in the recent few overs but for the sake of academic interests.

Adam Milnec Adil Rashid b Liam Plunkett 10 11 1 0 90.91

L Plunkett to A Milne, OUT! ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST! Back of a length around middle, Milne steps out to go big down the ground but skews it towards mid on. Rashid stationed there goes to his left to take a sharp catch. Another scalp for Plunkett, his third and England now just need a wicket to mop up the game.
Tim Southeec Jason Roy b Liam Plunkett 2 6 0 0 33.33
44.3
L Plunkett to Tim Southee, OUT! ENGLAND QUALIFY FOR THE SEMIFINALS! They have lived up to their pre-tournament tag of being favorites. Shortish on off stump, Southee goes for the pull but miscues it high towards deep mid-wicket. Roy in the deep takes the catch with ease. Completes a dominating win for the hosts. They were on top throughout. ENGLAND WIN BY 87 RUNS.
