Shikhar Dhawanb Matt Henry 1 10 0 0 10
1.4
M Henry to Dhawan, OUT! Dhawan departs! Length ball outside off, Dhawan stays deep in his crease and makes some room to cut it through the off side. The ball catches an inside edge and crashes onto the stumps. Shikhar goes early and Henry strikes in his first over. What a start for the Kiwis and they are delighted!
Murali Vijayc Bradley Watling b Matt Henry 9 29 2 0 31.03
11.2
M Henry to Vijay, OUT! Dream ball from Henry! Length ball around off, it holds its line and moves away a bit after pitching. Vijay stays back to cover the line but the away movement takes the edge. Watling is all smiles as he catches that. Henry strikes once again and India two down with that.
Cheteshwar Pujarac Martin Guptill b Neil Wagner 87 219 17 0 39.73
69.1
N Wagner to C Pujara, OUT! Pujara throws his wicket away! Full ball outside off, a scoring opportunity for him. He goes for a drive but ends up playing it straight into the hands of Guptill at short cover. The stand of 141 is finally broken and Pujara misses out on another ton. Wagner gets the crucial breakthrough.
Virat Kohli (C)c Tom Latham b Trent Boult 9 28 1 0 32.14
21.4
T Boult to Kohli, OUT! Captain departs! Full ball and wide outside off, Kohli goes chasing that one and drives it. The ball goes of an outside edge flying towards gully. Latham is quick in his response and gobbles a brilliant catch. Kohli gets out cheaply once again. Boult has picked a wicket in his return spell. India three down under fifty now.
Ajinkya Rahanelbw b Jeetan Patel 77 157 11 0 49.04
77.4
Patel to Rahane, OUT! The well set Rahane departs for a brilliant knock of 77 runs. Quicker and flatter through the air, holds its line. Rahane plays for the spin and misses it completely and is rapped low on the pads. The Kiwis appeal in unison and the umpire has no hesitation in ruling that out. That looked quite adjacent to the naked eye and would have probably crashed into the leg stump. New Zealand are clawing their way back into the match.
Rohit Sharmac Tom Latham b Jeetan Patel 2 12 0 0 16.67
73.1
J Patel to R Sharma, OUT! Sharma departs! Tossed up around middle, spinning in and having a little bit of extra bounce on it as Sharma looks to defend it. He is beaten by the extra bounce and only manages to get an inside edge on to his thigh pad and the ball lobs towards Latham at short leg who pouches it safely. New Zealand are coming back into the match.
Ravichandran Ashwinlbw b Matt Henry 26 33 4 0 78.79
83.6
Henry to Ashwin, OUT! Henry strikes with the new ball! On a good length coming in with the angle. Ashwin stays in the crease and looks to flick it but plays down the wrong line and misses and is rapped on the knee roll. The Kiwis make a loud appeal in unison and the umpire obliges and rules it out. Ashwin was looking good out there but he departs!
Wriddhiman Saha (W)not out 54 85 7 2 63.53
Ravindra Jadejac Matt Henry b Neil Wagner 14 31 0 1 45.16
96.2
N Wagner to Jadeja, OUT! Caught! Wagner breaks the dangerous-looking stand. A short ball around middle, Jadeja pulls it away but cannot keep it down. It goes straight down the throat of Matt Henry at deep backward square leg who makes no mistake. Wagner gets his second. Jadeja departs, he was not looking comfortable this morning.
Bhuvneshwar Kumarlbw b Mitchell Santner 5 11 1 0 45.45
99.4
M Santner to Kumar, OUT! LBW! Given this time. Although, this looked like a benefit of doubt could have been given to the batsman. The arm ball, around middle, Kumar comes forward to defend but misses and is hit on the front pad. Santner appeals and this time the umpire raises his finger! The ball still had some distance to go and could have missed the leg stump.
Mohammed Shamic Matt Henry b Trent Boult 14 14 3 0 100
104.5
T Boult to M Shami, OUT! WHAT A CATCH! Henry has taken a blinder. Short of a length ball on middle and leg, Shami goes for the pull shot but doesn't connect it that well. The ball goes towards fine leg where Henry sprints to his right and flies to take a stunning catch. The Kiwi fielders have been terrific on the field and with that, India's first innings comes to an end as they've ended up on 316!

2.4
B Kumar to Guptill, OUT! Guptill's poor run continues! Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowls a length delivery outside off, some extra bounce on this occasion, Guptill tries to shoulder his arms but the ball goes off the elbow and onto his stumps, thanks to that extra bounce. Beautiful bowling by Bhuvi and New Zealand have lost both their openers. Guptill looks in some pain too as he walks back. Not just the pain of getting hit on the elbow but the pain of getting out on a low score too.
Tom Lathamlbw b Mohammed Shami 1 2 0 0 50
1.5
M Shami to Latham, OUT! LBW! Shami draws first blood! Bowls a length ball around off, angling in towards the southpaw, Latham is forced to defend but misses it completely and gets hit on the pads. There is a big appeal for a leg before and the umpire raises his finger. Joy for India as they manage to get an early breakthrough.
Henry Nichollsb Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1 11 0 0 9.09
6.4
B Kumar to Nicholls, OUT! Another indecision, another dismissal! It has been that sort of a day for the Kiwis. The batsmen have not quite been able to judge the bounce and hence that indecision to play or leave has been clouding their minds. On a good length around off, angling away, Nicholls looks to defend but the ball straightens a touch, takes the inside edge and hits the stumps.
Ross Taylor (C)c Murali Vijay b Bhuvneshwar Kumar 36 80 5 0 45
28.1
B Kumar to R Taylor, OUT! Edged and taken! The captain is gone! Taylor is walking back with a wry smile on his face. Perhaps he did not want to continue playing in this fading light. No one can blame him. The conditions are perfect for fast bowling with the ball not that visible to the batsmen. On top of that, the pitch is behaving indifferently. Also, Kohli went for the kill, as India have nothing to lose. He gambled with fast bowlers bowling which could force the umpires to take the players off but could also produce a wicket. And the gamble worked. Bhuvi landed this on a good length outside off. Nothing special on the delivery in terms of movement. Perhaps it straightened a touch. Taylor pushed at it. The ball bounced a shade extra, hit the top portion of the bat, took the outside edge and went straight to Murali Vijay at first slip with eyes wide open. NEW ZEALAND TRAIL BY 212.
Luke Ronchilbw b Ravindra Jadeja 35 52 5 1 67.31
24.4
R Jadeja to Ronchi, OUT! LBW! Jadeja gets his man! Tossed up ball on the pads, Ronchi tries to defend but misses and he's rapped on the pads. There is a confident appeal for a leg before by Jadeja and co. and the umpire raises his finger this time. Jadeja celebrates and India get a vital breakthrough. Ronchi walks back and New Zealand slip further.
Mitchell Santnerlbw b Bhuvneshwar Kumar 11 20 2 0 55
32.1
Kumar to Santner, OUT! LBW! With the ball swinging, Bhuvi is no less than a king. Full and outside off, Santner stays back to defend but the ball swings back in, beats the bat and hits Santner flush on the pads. Up goes the umpire's finger without much time on the appeal.
Bradley Watling (W)lbw b Mohammed Shami 25 67 3 0 37.31
50.2
Shami to Watling, OUT! LBW! Watling's vigil is over. Full and straight, guess the ball swung a bit, Watling was late in getting his bat down, being defeated by the movement and was hit on the pads. Shami appealed and the umpire raised his finger. Watling hurries off the field. Perhaps he does not think the last wicket stand will last much.
Matt Henryb Bhuvneshwar Kumar 0 1 0 0 0
32.2
B Kumar to M Henry, OUT! BOWLED! Bhuvi is on a hat-trick! What a ball. He is making the ball talk. On a length outside off, Henry too stays back in his crease like Santner to defend but the ball jags back in, stays low and hits the off stump. 4TH 5-FER for Bhuvi, his first at home in Tests.
Jeetan Patelc Mohammed Shami b Ravichandran Ashwin 47 47 9 0 100
47.1
R Ashwin to Patel, OUT! Ashwin strikes first ball! What was that from Jeetan Patel though? It's a fullish delivery outside off, Patel tries to hit it down the ground but mistimes it completely. The ball goes high up in the air and Shami gets under it by running to his right from mid off. Smile on Kohli and Ashwin's faces. Jeetan Patel departs after a run-a-ball 47. Handy knock by him though. End of a solid partnership of 60 runs. New Zealand lose their eighth wicket, trail by 134 runs.
Neil Wagnerlbw b Mohammed Shami 10 18 0 1 55.56
52.6
Shami to Wagner, OUT! LBW! Shami takes the last wicket. It was landed on a good length, around leg, Wagner looked to defend but the ball skidded on and beat the bat to hit the pad. Shami appealed and the umpire raised his finger. Oh dear... replays show that the ball pitched outside leg. Tough luck. INDIA GET A LEAD OF 112!

T Boult to Dhawan, OUT! LBW! India have lost their third wicket! Excellent bowling from Boult. Keeps this on a length targetting the stumps, Dhawan stays back to defend but is late in getting his bat down. He is hit on the pads and Boult appeals. The finger is up straightaway. INDIA ARE EFFECTIVELY 146/3!
Murali Vijayc Martin Guptill b Matt Henry 7 15 1 0 46.67
5.4
M Henry to M Vijay, OUT! Good low catch by Guptill! Henry hurls a length delivery around off and gets it to straighten a touch, Vijay could have left it alone but he has a needless push inside the line without any footwork. It takes the outside edge and flies towards second slip. The ball is dying in front of the fielder but Guptill does well to get down low and cups it safely with both hands. Murali is not very happy with his attempted shot and walks back shaking his head.
Cheteshwar Pujaralbw b Matt Henry 4 7 1 0 57.14
7.5
M Henry to Pujara, OUT! Pujara is adjudged lbw! Henry comes up with another full delivery which nips back into the batsman after landing around middle and off. Pujara this time fails to flick it on the leg side and is rapped on the pads. They appeal and the finger goes up this time. Well, that looked to be missing leg but umpire Kettleborough has other ideas. India in some early spot of bother!
Virat Kohli (C)lbw b Trent Boult 45 65 7 0 69.23
23.6
T Boult to Kohli, OUT! Kohli is adjudged lbw! Unlucky for the Indian skipper as it stayed low. After bowling a barrage of deliveries in the zone outside off, Boult changes his angle and sprints in from around the wicket. He angles in a length ball around off, Kohli tries to defend but it stays agonizingly low to go past the bottom part of his bat and hit him on the pads. Kohli is almost on his haunches, the bowler turns back to appeal and is all pumped up as the finger goes up. The impact also looked to be a shade outside off and it was a marginal call from the umpire. Big scores are refusing to come from the bat of Kohli. INDIA LEAD BY 203 RUNS!
Ajinkya Rahanec Trent Boult b Matt Henry 1 5 0 0 20
13.1
M Henry to Rahane, OUT! Gone! The short ball has consumed Rahane. Landed around off, Rahane goes for the pull but gets a top edge. The ball swirls in the air towards deep backward square leg. The man from short mid-wicket moves to his right but then Trent Boult comes running in from the deep, calls clearly and takes the catch with ease. Rahane is not happy with himself. India are in a spot of bother with their score reading 43/4 but add the 112-run lead and they are still in a comfortable position.
Rohit Sharmac Luke Ronchi b Mitchell Santner 82 132 9 2 62.12
60.2
M Santner to Sharma, OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Tossed up outside off, spins away a touch, Rohit covers the line and tries to defend but gets a faint outside edge to the keeper behind. Ronchi takes an easy catch and Santner gets his second wicket. Rohit Sharma's wonderful knock comes to an end. 103-run stand broken, India lead by 321 runs.
Ravichandran Ashwinlbw b Mitchell Santner 5 23 0 0 21.74
30.3
Santner to Ashwin, OUT! LBW! India lose their 6th! Ashwin is not happy. Was there an inside edge? Flighted around middle and off, Ashwin comes forward to defend but misses and is hit on the pads. Santner appeals and the umpire raises his finger! Ashwin walks back disappointed. Angry, rather. Kohli looks shell-shocked in the dressing room. However, replays show the ball hitting the pad first, then the inside edge. Good decision in the end. INDIA ARE EFFECTIVELY 218/6!
Wriddhiman Saha (W)not out 58 120 6 0 48.33
Ravindra Jadejac sub b Mitchell Santner 6 4 0 1 150
60.6
M Santner to Jadeja, OUT! Santner dishes out a fuller ball on middle and off and Jadeja goes for another big shot over the leg side. He gets into the position to slog but gets a top edge and the ball flies towards short fine leg where Neesham (sub) takes an easy catch. Another wicket for Santner.
Bhuvneshwar Kumarc Henry Nicholls b Neil Wagner 23 51 2 1 45.1
73.4
N Wagner to B Kumar, OUT! Change of bowling does the trick! Banged in short on middle and leg, Kumar tries to work it across but pops out it straight to the short leg fielder. Nicholls makes no mistake and Wagner gets his first wicket. The short ball tactic has worked yet again for him. It's his 500th First Class wicket as well.
Mohammed Shamic Tom Latham b Trent Boult 1 7 0 0 14.29
76.5
T Boult to M Shami, OUT! THAT IS IT! Good length ball around the off stump channel, Shami tries to defend but gets a thick outside edge. The ball flies towards gully where Latham takes a good low catch. The Kiwi fielders are not sure though but Latham appeals for the catch. The umpire refers it upstairs but his soft signal is out. Replays aren't clear but Simon Doull on air feels it has carried. The third umpire takes his time and gives it out, going with the soft signal as he doesn't have enough evidence to rule it not out. India are bowled out! NEW ZEALAND NEED 376 RUNS TO WIN!

R Ashwin to Latham, OUT! Caught behind! Latham departs after a fighting knock. Flighted outside off, a bit wide, Latham is drawn into the drive and gets a thin outside edge. Saha takes a very good catch. The Indians appeal but umpire Tucker does not raise his finger. However, Latham walks. May be a bit of loss in concentration.
Martin Guptilllbw b Ravichandran Ashwin 24 49 3 0 48.98
16.5
R Ashwin to Guptill, OUT! Gone this time! Ashwin bowls it full around the off stump line, Guptill brings his bat down to defend but it's jammed due to his front pad. As a result, Guptill is hit on the pads and there is a big appeal for a leg before wicket. Umpire Kettleborough raises his finger this time and India finally get a breakthrough. Ashwin strikes in the very first over after lunch. Guptill's poor form continues and he will be lucky to play the next Test.
Henry Nichollsc Ajinkya Rahane b Ravindra Jadeja 24 66 2 0 36.36

R Jadeja to H Nicholls, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Tossed up around off from round the wicket, Nicholls tries to defend but gets an outside edge. The ball goes straight into the hands of Rahane at first slip. India get the breakthrough finally. Coming back to the ball, there was not enough turn and Nicholls failed to cover that line. Actually angle did the trick there for Jadeja.

Ashwin to Taylor, OUT! LBW! Flighted ball around off, slower through the air, Taylor tries to defend but gets squared up completely and plays down the wrong line. He is hit flush on the pads and there is a big appeal for a leg before. The umpire has no hesitation in raising his finger this time. Taylor has to walk back. Ashwin gets his second wicket. Another batsman out LBW and this match now holds the record for most LBW in a Test in India!
Luke Ronchib Ravindra Jadeja 32 60 4 0 53.33

R Jadeja to Ronchi, OUT! Drags it on! Once again, the break has proved to be the nemesis for the Kiwis! They have lost wickets almost after every break - be it Drinks, Lunch or Tea. Once again, this was the Drinks break and they have lost their concentration. Landed outside off, Ronchi stays back to cut but gets a thick inside edge onto his pads which hits the middle stump. Jadeja is up and running in celebration. The Eden crowd is going wild! India 3 wickets away from a 2-0 win!
Mitchell Santnerlbw b Mohammed Shami 9 20 2 0 45
58.4
M Shami to Santner, OUT! LBW! New Zealand have lost half their side. Full and outside off, coming in a long way, Santner looks to defend but is beaten by the late movement and is hit on the pads. Shami appeals, umpire Kettleborough thinks for a while and then raises his finger. Santner is not happy, he reckons there was an inside edge but replays do not agree with him. That looks pretty close and in all likelihood, the ball would have hit the stumps.
Bradley Watling (W)b Mohammed Shami 1 8 0 0 12.5

Shami to B Watling, OUT! The off stump has been sent flying! New Zealand are disintegrating here. Terrific exhibition of reverse swing bowling. Shami keeps this outside off, Watling comes forward to defend but the ball tails in at quick pace and beats him. Boom! Back goes the off stump. We could be in for a finish today itself.

B Kumar to J Patel, OUT! BOWLED! Whoa, whoa, whoa... the Black Caps are clueless against spin and seam in Eden. What a ball. And that has taken India to the number 1 ranking in Tests. A short ball around off, Boult backs away and has a wild swing. Gets a top edge which goes high in the air but has not got the distance.
