Stephen Cookc Kane Williamson b Doug Bracewell 56 143 9 0 39.16
45.4
D Bracewell to S Cook, OUT! That is as clean as a whistle. No doubts about it. Cook has to go. Fuller and a bit wider outside off, Cook reaches out to drive but the ball moves away a touch and goes off the outside edge. It is towards backward point where Kane Williamson takes it near his ankles. Now, normally, in today's age, when a fielder takes a catch, he shows some emotion - like a fist pump, a send-off celebration, a dance or a jig - but Mr. Williamson, who is as cool as a cucumber, shows no emotion. Just catches it and walks towards his bowler, as if it were a fielding drill. Even Bracewell is confused and does not know what has happened. Cook initially starts to walk but on seeing the bowler, he stops. Now, the umpires get together and have a chat. Amidst all this, Kane Williamson suddenly starts to wonder what is all the fuss? I caught it cleanly, didn't I? he feels. He puts in an appeal and the umpires refer it upstairs. Boy, it is clear from the first replay. Straight into the basket. The decision is made within 30 seconds. Cook departs but he has done his job. A good foundation has been made, albeit, the home side has lost two quick wickets.
Quinton de Kock (W)c Trent Boult b Neil Wagner 82 114 15 0 71.93
38.5
N Wagner to Kock, OUT! Caught! That is a terrific catch and Wagner gets the breakthrough! The short stuff consumes de Kock. he was receiving a barricade of short balls and eventually gets dismissed by one. This is around leg stump, de Kock swivels and pulls it with tremendous power. But it is flat and straight to Trent Boult at deep backward square leg. The ball is travelling and Boult is pushed a few metres back after taking the catch but he is in control and ensures that he does not touch the ropes. The 133-run stand is broken and de Kock misses a golden opportunity to get a century. A fine knock though.
Hashim Amlac Bradley Watling b Neil Wagner 58 91 9 1 63.74
69.2
N Wagner to Amla, OUT! Caught behind! Wagner gets the big fish! Have to give it to the heart this man has. On a good length just outside off, Amla is drawn forward as he looks to defend. He is totally squared up and gets a thick outside edge as the ball straightens a bit. Bradley Watling takes a simple catch and the umpire raises his finger on the appeal. Amla does not bother to review. A fine innings comes to an end and the 95-run stand has been broken.
JP Duminyc Bradley Watling b Tim Southee 88 158 13 0 55.7
99.5
Tim Southee to Duminy, OUT! Caught behind! The short ball has consumed Duminy again and he falls 12 short of his century. It was pitched outside off and angling away. Duminy decided to attack it and went for the pull. However, due to the ball going away from him, he could not get full control of it. The ball took the toe end of the bat and went to the keeper and the bowler did not even have to appeal. Duminy walked off. A fine 88 from the left hander but a century was there for the taking. The 71-run stand has been broken.
Faf du Plessis (C)not out 112 234 12 2 47.86
Temba Bavumac Doug Bracewell b Neil Wagner 8 36 1 0 22.22
110.6
N Wagner to Bavuma, OUT! That is a fine catch! Wagner gets his third. A good short ball outside off, Bavuma looks to pull but is hurried into the same. He gets a bit of a top edge towards backward square leg and the ball dips, threatening to land in no man's land. But Doug Bracewell comes charging in, judges the catch to perfection and dives forward to take a brilliant one. The umpires check for the overstepping but replays show that Wagner is fine.
Stiaan van Zylc Ross Taylor b Neil Wagner 35 88 5 0 39.77
136.5
N Wagner to van Zyl, OUT! Gone! Wicket number 4 for Wagner! On a fuller length around off, van Zyl looks to work it to the leg side but gets an outside edge which goes low to Ross Taylor at gully. Simple catch and it is taken. The 84-run stand is broken and van Zyl has failed to convert his start.
Vernon Philanderb Neil Wagner 8 28 1 0 28.57
146.3
N Wagner to V Philander, OUT! The off stump has gone for a walk! Full and outside off, swinging in a shade, Philander looks to play that straight but misses and the off pole is gone. 4th Test 5-wicket haul for Wagner. It has been a terrific effort.
Kagiso Rabadac Henry Nicholls b Mitchell Santner 7 20 1 0 35
151.5
M Santner to Rabada, OUT! Straight to the man! Santner gets a wicket at last. Tossed up on middle, Rabada gets down and slog sweeps this uppishly towards deep mid-wicket. Henry Nicholls is stationed at the ropes and he takes a comfortable catch.
Dale Steynnot out 13 12 0 2 108.33

V Philander to M Guptill, OUT! One down. on a fuller length outside off, Guptill feels for it and gets a thick outside edge to Stiaan van Zyl at second slip.
Tom Lathamc Quinton de Kock b Dale Steyn 4 11 1 0 36.36
4.3
D Steyn to Latham, OUT! Caught behind! Steyn strikes now. On a good length around off, Latham stays back to defend. But the ball nips back in, hits something on its way through and de Kock dives to his right to collect and then appeals. The umpire does not raise the finger and du Plessis takes the review. Snickometer shows a thin deflection and that is good enough for the umpire who overrules the decision. Now then... both openers dismissed.
Kane Williamson (C)c Quinton de Kock b Kagiso Rabada 77 133 8 1 57.89
58.3
K Rabada to Williamson, OUT! Edged and taken! It's all over for New Zealand! Short of a length delivery on off, Willimason looks to pull but only manages to get an outside edge towards de Kock who doesn't miss many. A fighting innings from the Kiwi skipper comes to an end. NEW ZEALAND BOWLED OUT FOR 214 AND TRAIL BY 267 RUNS! EARLY TEA HAS ALSO BEEN TAKEN.
Ross Taylorrun out (Temba Bavuma) 1 12 0 0 8.33
9.2
K Rabada to Taylor, OUT! Taylor is gone. He pushed this towards short mid-wicket and set off for what he though was a single available. However, Williamson thought otherwise as he saw the dynamite Temba Bavuma lurking at short leg. He sent Taylor back and Bavuma charged to the ball, picked it up had a shy at the striker's end and bingo! Taylor tried to stretch but he knew he was gone. He started walking to the dressing room straightaway and just stopped for a brief moment at the boundary line, awaiting the third umpire's call. Once that came, he was off. Replays clearly showed he was well short. NEW ZEALAND STILL TRAIL BY 455 RUNS.
Henry Nichollslbw b Kagiso Rabada 36 67 5 0 53.73
30.5
K Rabada to Nicholls, OUT! The decision is overturned. It's dead plumb in front of the wickets. Rabada strikes and his pace has done the trick. Spears in a full ball in the line of the stumps, 145.6 kph, Nicholls is caught napping inside the crease as he tries to play across the line. He is beaten for pace and is rapped on the back pad. They appeal, the umpire disagrees and South Africa quickly take the DRS. The replays show that it has landed on leg and would have gone on to destroy the stumps. Finally a breakthrough for the Proteas this morning. The change in field probably was playing in Nicholls' mind as he was expecting a short ball after a leg slip and fly slip were placed prior to this ball. But it was a double bluff from Kagiso. Smart planning. New Zealand trail by 395 runs.
Bradley Watling (W)c Quinton de Kock b Dale Steyn 8 26 2 0 30.77
37.3
D Steyn to Watling, OUT! It's gloved. Steyn lets out yet another short ball around leg, Watling fends at it and it seems it has gone off his gloves to the keeper. de Kock collects the ball and appeals, Steyn joins him a bit late but the umpire shakes his head. Faf du Plessis immediately opts for the review and the replays confirm the involvement of the gloves. Watling has to walk back and it's a big blow to New Zealand. They trail by 375 runs. This is also Steyn's 50th Test wicket in Centurion.
Mitchell Santnerb Vernon Philander 0 4 0 0 0
38.4
V Philander to Santner, OUT! Timbaahhh... Philander strikes just before lunch and New Zealand are pushed in a corner now. It's a length ball around middle and off, 136.3 kph, Santner with no footwork tries to defend but it catches the inside edge of the bat, brushes his pads and cannons onto the stumps. Santner bags a duck. New Zealand trail by 370 runs.
Doug Bracewelllbw b Kagiso Rabada 18 36 4 0 50
46.5
K Rabada to Bracewell, OUT! LBW! Deadly accurate! Rabada's plan works. After pitching the ball on the pads, he changes things up and sends in a fuller delivery around off. Bracewell plays it safe, stepping forward and looking to defend it with a straight bat. The ball has other ideas as it takes off after the bounce and swings into his pads. That was dead plump and Bracewell has no hope. The umpire raises his finger, and Bracewell looks to Williamson. The skipper shakes his head and decides not to review it. NZ are in serious trouble!
Tim Southeec Quinton de Kock b Dane Piedt 8 19 1 0 42.11
51.5
D Piedt to Southee, OUT! Edged and gone! de Kock takes a sharp catch and Piedt gets his first! Gives this one a bit more flight and bowls it around off, Southee makes room to cut but this time the ball kisses the outside edge of his bat and de Kock behind the stumps takes a superb catch. Southee walks back and Williamson is really running out of partners here.
Neil Wagnerc Quinton de Kock b Dale Steyn 31 30 4 1 103.33
57.5
D Steyn to Wagner, OUT! STEYN HAS THE LAST LAUGH! It's the short ball that works eventually! Dug in short outside off, Wagner backs away to pull and gets a thin edge through to de Kock who takes it with ease. Steyn is pumped up and gives the southpaw a real send off. Ends a really entertaining cameo from Wagner.

T Boult to Cook, OUT! Boult draws first blood! He hurls it on a length and around off, it nips back in deadly. Cook was expecting the ball to shape away but this one curls in only to hit him on the pads right in front of the wickets. Boult turns back to appeal and sees the finger going up much to his delight. Cook walks to his partner and confers if he should take the review. The Protea keeper says no. After being hit for boundaries in his very first over, Boult will have something to smile now. SA lead by 298 runs.
Quinton de Kock (W)c Kane Williamson b Doug Bracewell 50 43 8 1 116.28
19.1
D Bracewell to Kock, OUT! Beauty from Bracewell! That ends a fantastic innings from de Kock! Shorter ball on off, the delivery carved its way through the air and swung back in to completely take de Kock by surprise. He is cramped inside the crease and raises his bat to fend it off. The ball takes a top edge and arcs across to gully and Williamson takes a couple of steps forward to take a simple catch. SA were bound to lose a wicket so late into the game.
Hashim Amlac Martin Guptill b Tim Southee 1 5 0 0 20
4.2
Tim Southee to H Amla, OUT! Got him... yes gone! That's a huge, huge wicket! Southee serves a full length delivery on off, curls away after pitching. Amla is tempted to go after it and in the end pays the price for the same. The ball takes the outside part of the willow and flies in the safe hands of the Kiwi opener Martin Guptill at second slip. He doesn't drop many and Amla walks back without troubling the scorers much.
JP Duminylbw b Tim Southee 0 3 0 0 0
4.5
Southee to Duminy, OUT! JP you gotta go! Southee gets another one in the same over, boy, this is some pace bowling! Fires a full ball, at 137 kph, nips in after hitting the deck. Duminy looks to flick it across the line but completely misses and is hit on the pads. Tim turns back to appeal and the umpire raises his dreaded finger. Duminy looks at de Kock and then keeps his bat near his armpit and starts to walk back. New Zealand get what they wanted.
Faf du Plessis (C)c Ross Taylor b Trent Boult 6 28 0 0 21.43
11.2
T Boult to du Plessis, OUT! Caught! Trent Boult gets his second wicket too. He bowls it from over the wicket outside off, it bounces a bit after pitching. Takes du Plessis by surprise and as a result he gets an outside edge towards first slip where Ross Taylor takes a good catch diving forward. Boult is all jovial and why wouldn't he be?
Temba Bavumanot out 40 113 6 0 35.4
Stiaan van Zylc Bradley Watling b Neil Wagner 5 32 0 0 15.63

N Wagner to Zyl, OUT! GONE! Wagner strikes! This was cleverly done. After a series of short deliveries, van Zyl was certainly not expecting a fuller ball outside off. He steps forward and looks to defend it to the covers but the ball swings away gently and clips the outside edge. It goes to the keeper who bends and pouches the sitter. NZ are making good headway into the line-up.
Vernon Philanderb Tim Southee 14 35 1 0 40
43.3
Tim Southee to Philander, OUT! UPROOTED! That was some swing! Length ball outside off, Vernon thinks it will hold its line and shoulders his arms. Southee changes his grip through and rolls his wrists to send the ball twirling back in and crashing into the off stump to send it cartwheeling. That is a sight that any fast bowler would love to behold!

D Steyn to Latham, OUT! Bam goes the timberrrrrr! Dale Steyn provides his team just the start they wanted. He starts with a short of length delivery on off. Tom Latham as every batsman would do, tries to shoulder his arms but there is some extra bounce as the ball catches the gloves and then crashes on to the woodwork. Steyn is all pumped up and sprints towards the slip cordon to get a pat on the back. New Zealand rocked early here.
Martin Guptillc Hashim Amla b Dale Steyn 0 1 0 0 0
0.6
D Steyn to M Guptill, OUT! Steyn strikes again in the very first over. A wicket on the first and last ball and both the Kiwi openers are back in the hut, bagging a golden duck each. This is some start, the Steyn that we all know and love. New Zealand in all sorts of trouble here. Coming to the ball, he bowls on a length and gets it to shape away from the batsman, Guptill pokes at it and pays the price for the same. The extra bounce is there once again and hence Martin gets a thick outside edge that flies in the safe hands of Amla at first slip. He doesn't drop many and this one is no different. South Africa are off to a flier here. Ross Taylor in next with New Zealand in early trouble.
Kane Williamson (C)c Quinton de Kock b Vernon Philander 5 11 0 0 45.45
3.1
V Philander to Williamson, OUT! Edged and what a brilliant take by Quinton de Kock! Mind boggling stuff from the Proteas. Though the wicket will go down in Philander's kitty but this is de Kock's wicket, mind you. Hurls a length delivery outside off, swings away after pitching. Williamson gets back to punch it through covers but much to his dismay he ends up getting an outside edge towards the keeper. QDK dives full length to his right and pulls off a screamer. He almost dived in front of Amla at first slip, terrific work. This is disappointing for the Kiwis as the skipper falls cheaply too.
Ross Taylorlbw b Dale Steyn 0 5 0 0 0
2.5
Steyn to Taylor, OUT! Another one bites the dust! The 'Steyn Gun' bags another one and also equals Ntini's record who holds the highest no. of wickets at this venue - 54. This was another full length delivery on middle, moves away nicely but it doesn't rise much off the deck. Taylor can't be blamed here as he didn't expect it at all. The ball hits him on the back pad and right in front of the stumps. Steyn goes up in an appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Taylor walks to Williamson and has a chat but decides not to take a review. Three down are the Kiwis and are in dire straits here.
Henry Nichollsc Kagiso Rabada b Dale Steyn 76 140 12 0 54.29
58.2
D Steyn to Nicholls, OUT! It's all over for New Zealand! Steyn picks up his 26th 5-wicket haul in Tests and is all pumped up. A superb display of all round cricket from the Proteas. Short of a length delivery down leg, Nicholls looks to pull but only manages to get a top edge which is easily grabbed by Rabada at long leg. A good fighting knock from Nicholls comes to an end. SOUTH AFRICA WIN BY 204 RUNS!
Bradley Watling (W)lbw b Dane Piedt 32 87 6 0 36.78
29.4
D Piedt to Watling, OUT! The decision stays and it's a big blow to New Zealand! Piedt serves a tossed up off spinner and lands it outside off, Watling shuffles across the stumps and tries to flick but misses. He is thudded on the pads, they appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Watling takes the referral and the replays show that it's hit him in line and clipping the top of leg stump. End of a 68-run stand and South Africa are five wickets away from winning the series 1-0!
Mitchell Santnerb Dale Steyn 16 40 3 0 40
42.6
Steyn to M Santner, OUT! Knocked him over! The middle stump is out of here. Can imagine the pace of Dale Steyn. Dale has absolutely nailed it. He comes from round the wicket, bowls a full length ball angling in, at 137.7 kph. Santner without any foot movement looks to drive but is beaten for pace as the ball goes right through bat and pad to disturb the furniture. South Africa just need 4 wickets to win now. Note - Dale Steyn becomes the leading wickettaker in Centurion now, goes past Makhaya Ntini's 54.
Doug Bracewelllbw b Vernon Philander 30 36 3 2 83.33
50.5
V Philander to Bracewell, OUT! The decision stays as it is! Philander strikes and that's the end of Bracewell! Vernon hurls a length delivery on middle, skids off the deck after pitching. Doug looks to flick it across the line but misses only to be rapped on the pads. Philander appeals and it's given out straightaway. The batsman isn't convinced with the decision and hence takes the review. The replays show it was pitched in line and was clipping the leg stump. Umpire's call and Bracewell's cameo comes to an end.
Tim Southeeb Kagiso Rabada 14 15 3 0 93.33
55.3
Rabada to Southee, OUT! Rabada gets his revenge! He dishes out a brilliant yorker, right at the base of the off stump, it's too quick for Southee to dig out and the stumps take a beating. The umpire quickly checks for the front foot no ball and it's found out to be a legal delivery in the replays. Rabada has the last laugh in this contest. South Africa only two wickets away from winning the series.
Neil Wagnerlbw b Kagiso Rabada 3 14 0 0 21.43
57.6
K Rabada to Wagner, OUT! This was on the cards after the bombardment of short balls to Wagner. Rabada sets him nicely for a yorker, around middle, Wagner is stuck inside the crease and then tries to dig it out. But he is beaten for sheer pace and is hit on the back pad. They appeal and the finger is up immediately. One more wicket left for a 1-0 series win.
