Wagner to D Elgar, OUT! Caught behind! Wagner gets his third and he has bounced out Elgar. A short ball outside off, Elgar initially looks to hook but then thinks about pulling out at the last moment. However, he is late. The extra bounce and pace from Neil Wagner takes the top edge and Bradley Watling behind takes a simple catch. So a breakthrough at last for the Kiwis as the 104-run stand comes to an end. Magnificent innings from Elgar.

Wagner to H Amla, OUT! BOWLED! Wagner strikes on return! Full and around off, Amla looks to drive but the front foot does not move at all. That creates a big gap between bat and pad and the ball swings back in, goes right through the gate and hits the middle and off stumps.

N Wagner to JP Duminy, OUT! There is glove! Wagner gets his second in five balls! A short ball around off, an absolute brute, Duminy is caught by surprise and tries to sway away. He is not able to totally avoid it though and the ball goes off something to Ross Taylor at first slip. Umpire Dharmasena rules it out on the appeal but Duminy takes the review. Replays show the ball hitting the grill of the helmet but a closer inspection on Hot Spot shows that the ball brushes the gloves, then the helmet. Duminy has to go! What an over from Wagner.

J Neesham to du Plessis, OUT! CAUGHT! Neesham eventually gets his man. A short ball outside off, du Plessis swivels and pulls it away. Normally, he hits these out of the park but there are two odds here. A. The ball is well outside off, which means he has to fetch it and put more power. B. It is the longest part of the ground. As a result, the pull shot is aerial but does not have the power. Trent Boult settles under it at the square leg fence. Du Plessis stands there, looking at his bat and then trudges off. End of another fine knock and the 126-run stand is broken. That should lift the Kiwi spirits.

Boult to Bavuma, OUT! Caught behind! Boult has struck and Bavuma departs. He walks across his stumps and Boult slips this down the leg side. Bavuma is forced to play at that but he is so far across that he can only tickle it to the keeper. Second wicket for Boult and he is smiling. New Zealand making inroads. J Patel to Kock, OUT! Patel gets de Kock again! Thrice in three meetings now. Beautifully flighted outside off, wide of off stump, gets it to turn away as well. Boult to K Maharaj, OUT! Caught! Boult gets his man. He was targetting Maharaj with the short stuff and has eventually got the result. Banged in around off, Maharaj goes for the pull, gets nowhere near the desired timing and a top edge is induced. Simple catch for Jimmy Neesham at short mid-wicket. Boult has his third scalp.

J Patel to K Rabada, OUT! BOWLED! The key to this wicket is the previous delivery. The one before this was landed in exactly the same spot and it turned away. Rabada expects this one to spin away as well but this one is an arm ball and comes in with the angle. Rabada lets it go and the ball hits the off stump! Second wicket for Patel.

V Philander to Latham, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Philander has struck. He was bowling impeccable lines till now and eventually gets a wicket. He lands this on a fuller length, but well outside off and makes the ball deviate a touch. Latham could have left it alone but he feels for it and gets a healthy nick. Simple catch for his counterpart de Kock. Philander could well like this pitch. He seems to have identified something on the pitch. NEW ZEALAND TRAIL BY 293.

K Maharaj to Raval, OUT! A wicket out of nowhere and to a ball which actually didn't deserve it. Short and around leg, Raval looks to play it through square but the ball stops on him and he hands a straight catch to Elgar at mid-wicket. Maharaj breaks the partnership! Raval would be disappointed to throw his wicket away like this!

K Rabada to Williamson, OUT! Caught behind! Rabada gets a wicket at last. Lands this on a good length outside off, gets it to nip back in, Williamson pokes at it and only succeeds in edging it. Simple catch for Quinton de Kock and the Proteas are cock-a-hoop. That is a big wicket. Poor Rabada has toiled hard. Williamson walks back after a magnificent knock. The 84-run stand is broken. K Maharaj to Nicholls, OUT! The catch is legal! The bowling change works. Oh and Amla grabs a stunner. Full delivery around off, HN goes forward to defend but it takes the outside edge and goes towards first slip, where Hashim dives to his left and takes a sharp and low one-handed catch. Oh hold on for a second, replays indicate that the ball might have touched the ground. And the umpires have taken it upstairs. The soft signal is out. And multiple replays gives the third umpire no conclusive evidence to overturn the decision. He thinks it is a clean catch and Nicholls has to depart.

V Philander to Patel, OUT! That is a sensational catch! Faf du Plessis has pulled off a stinger. It was a length ball outside off and Patel looked to slash it over the top. He got a thick outside edge which flew over second slip but du Plessis threw himself to his right, went at it one-handed, but then could not hang on. However, he grabbed it in the second attempt, again one-handed. Philander gets his second scalp.

M Morkel to J Neesham, OUT! Caught behind! Controversial decision. There does not seem to be any part of the foot behind the popping crease. However, the third umpire feels it is a legal delivery. Neesham is not too happy. Leaving that side, it was a terrific piece of bowling. Morkel lands it on a good length outside off, could have been left alone but Neesham feels for it. He gets a thin outside edge and de Kock does the rest. Umpire Dharmasena straightaway raises his finger but then wants to cross-check the overstepping. It seems very close. From the angles shown, when the front foot lands, the back heel seems to be in front of the crease, not behind. Morkel seems to have got away with one. NEW ZEALAND STILL TRAIL BY 115.

K Maharaj to Watling, OUT! BOWLED! Maharaj has his third! The arm ball around middle, Watling backs away to work it to the leg side but misses. The ball arrows into the pads and then deflects onto the leg stump! That ends New Zealand's chances of getting into a sizeable lead, unless the tail can come to the party. M Morkel to M Santner, OUT! That is a sharp catch! Full and wide outside off, Santner goes hard at it, aiming for a cover drive but fails to keep it down. It goes straight but quickly to Keshav Maharaj at short cover who takes it cleanly. Santner does not go as he watches the umpires have a chat with each other. K Maharaj to Wagner, OUT! Caught! MAIDEN 5-FER FOR MAHARAJ! The left-arm spinner closes the innings out. K Maharaj to Boult, OUT! BOWLED! Maharaj has his fourth. Tossed up outside off, very slowly bowled, Boult comes down the track and has a wild heave but is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. Misses and the cherry hits the timber. NEW ZEALAND LEAD BY 16.

T Boult to Cook, OUT! Caught behind! Boult has struck! Full and around off, Cook looks to work it to the leg side but misses. The ball deviates away towards the keeper and there is a noise as the ball goes past. There is a massive appeal and umpire Bruce Oxenford upholds it. Cook walks back with a forlorn face but hello? Replays show a massive gap between bat and ball and Hot Spot confirms bat hitting the pad! Why did he not review it? An answer which only Cook can give. Total lack of awareness.

N Wagner to Amla, OUT! Soft dismissal! Well, one might say, a poor shot from Amla on this sort of a wicket but this is excellent captaincy from Kane Williamson. Amla has this habit of getting across and tucking balls on the leg side. So what he did was - kept a man at short mid-wicket and one at square leg. And then his bowler bowled what his skipper wanted him to bowl - On a length around middle and leg. Amla got across and played his favourite whip-flick. He could not keep it down and Tim Southee, the substitute for Ross Taylor, takes a simple catch with a gentle leap. He celebrates and turns around in excitement and nearly collides with Mitchell Santner running in from square leg but all is well that ends well. Another failure for Amla. Duminy walks across slowly towards his partner and then signals for the review. Hawk Eye shows the ball to be clipping the bails, so Duminy has to go. M Santner to T Bavuma, OUT! BOWLED! That is so unlucky! Landed outside off, Bavuma comes half forward to defend. However, the ball hits the toe end of the bat and rolls behind.
