Former Indian batsman RobinUthappa was bought for a staggering INR 5 crores by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) Player Auctions.

Uthappa also became the most expensive batsman in the 2014 IPL’s auction so far and is expected to provide KKR the much needed fire-power in the batting department.

The other two Indian batsmen  who went for enormous prices were Cheteshwar Pujara (INR 1.90 crores) to Kings XI Punjab and Bengal’s Manoj Tiwary (INR 2.80 crores) to Delhi Daredevils.

The buying of Uthappa by Kolkata came as a surprise since it was expected that the Sharukh Khan owned outfit would opt for more illustrious batsmen during the auctions.
