Former South African spinner and commentator, Pat Symcox has said that he believes Jacques Kallis is the greatest cricketer ever.

In an interview with Zee News, when asked about Kallis’s retirement, Symcox said that only Kallis could have judged the timing of his retirement. Although he would have ideally liked to see the all-rounder play the coming Australia Test series at home, but at the end of the day, he reiterated that Kallis must have thought out the decision.

Symcox also said that it would be difficult to replace the the giant of the game in the South African Test squad.

He also expressed sadness over the fact that unlike Sachin Tendulkar, Kallis didn’t get a chance to play his last Test at his home ground; Newlands, Capetown.
