Having lost three consecutive Ashes series, Australia were in horrible form entering the 2013-14 home Ashes series. In the first match, Australia were put in to bat and folded up for 295. With that, the whole cricketing world expected to see Australia succumb to yet another Ashes loss. But what happened in the next innings and the entire series thereafter was near-revolutionary. Mitchell Johnson, who averaged about 30  before the Test struck red hot form. England were bowled out for 136 and Johnson bagged 4 wickets.

After that, in every innings England were meted out similar treatment by Johnson. Australia, riding on Johnson’s form whitewashed England 5-0. Johnson with 37 wickets was the top wicket-taker, the second highest was Ryan Harris with an impressive, yet distant 22 wickets. Johnson has been in great form ever since.
