It has become common knowledge that Shahid Afridi’s record for fastest century was bettered by Corey Anderson by one ball on New Year’s Day 2014. But Afridi’s knock will continue to remain etched in the hearts of people as one of the most special.

It must be factored in that Shahid Afridi was only a 16-year old when he smashed his way into record books against a Sri Lankan attack with names like Chaminda Vaas and Muttiah Muralitharan. The record came in the year 1996 when batsmen didn’t enjoy the advantage of well-crafted bats that batsmen do today.
