Alastair Cook scored double hundred and missed out on a triple after being dismissed for 294. It was a huge part of England‘s innings as they posted a mammoth 710-7 declared at Edgbaston during the third Test against India in 2011. Cook has undoubtedly the king as England skipper of late as he has led England to numerous Test victories. Although he has not faired similarly in the limited-overs format, but his Test cricket records are adorable. His this innings of 294 set his standards high and made undoubtedly made him one of the topmost openeing batsman in Test cricket till date. Recently, Alastair Cook was quoted saying that he believes that his side could win the series as soon as they won the first Test at Cardiff by a huge margin. Cook believes that his side were not discouraged after the huge loss they suffered at Lord’s in the second Test. “Australia came as firm favourites, but as a player and as a team you need to have a bit of substance in your belief,” Cook said as part of the same panel. “You turn up to Cardiff and you look at the Australians and like we always do we probably build up the opposition in our own minds a bit,” said Cook. Cook’s finest hour came when he scored 766, playing a pivotal role in England’s whopping Ashes triumph in Australia in 2010-11. It remains the second-best for any English batsman in an Ashes series. He scored a career-best of 294 against Edgbaston the following summer.
