IPL Auction 2017: How much money can each team spend?

The 10th edition of the much hyped and most popular; the cash-rich Twenty20 (T20) league of India, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 is all set to get underway from April 5, 2017. The final schedule of the 2017 season has also been announced as all the eight teams from the previous season would once again compete and fight it out for the coveted title. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) being the defending champions, the final is all slated to be hosted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on May 21. The 10 edition of the IPL Auction will be held on February 20, 2017 in Bengaluru, as the teams and franchises would have a chance to marginally rearrange their squad before the season gets underway. Although the franchises have retained most of their star players, few of the players have been released by the sides considering the well-being and game-play strategy of the side. Therefore, the franchises are all set to engage in a battle of the money and the war would begin on who would claim the best player for the best price, as the auction always turns out to be a thriller, and a definite prelude of what is to come when the season gets underway. Each of the franchises have been allotted specific cap of the total amount of money they can spend entirely in the auction window. The amount was decided by the IPL Governing council after calculating the no. of players released by the sides, and also the money amounting to the released players. The final and total amount of money available to the franchises, before the auction begins, is given below:

The teams can have a maximum of 27 players including 9 overseas players, while a maximum of 76 players, including 28 overseas, can be bought at the auction. The IPL players’ auction for season 10, which will be the final edition under the existing 10-year contract, will be held at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Bengaluru. The IPL franchises’ workshop, which is an annual affair, will be organised in Dubai the following day. 750 plus players had initially registered to enter the auction but the final list has been trimmed down to 351.
