A fitting tribute to Phil Hughes from Sean Abbott

Ever since the dreaded day of November 25, 2014, the entire world of cricket wanted to see this – a smiling Sean Abbott playing cricket.

The 22 year old all-rounder, on Friday, did much more than that. Abbott claimed his best First-Class bowling figures on his return match as New South Wales beat Queensland by an innings and 80 runs.

Abbott finished with figures of six for 14 in his seven overs, in the very ground where he bowled the short bouncer which felled Phil Hughes, leading to his death.

Coming out from the darkest days of his life, Abbott’s performance did speak a lot of the youngster’s mental strength.
