When a school going Sachin Tendulkar trained in the nets in the 1980s, his coach Ramakant Archrekar would place a one-rupee coin on the stumps. Those days, the value of a rupee was a lot for kids. Archrekar would say that whoever got the little champion out could claim the coin, but if Tendulkar remained unbeaten till the end of the day, the coin was his.

This story is well-known and in the past, even television commercials have captured it. Tendulkar collected several of them and he has gone on records to say that his collection of those one rupee coins is something he values most.

As reported by Yahoo Cricket, Tendulkar has collected several memorabilia which includes a guitar from Mark Knopfler, boxing gloves belonging to Muhammad Ali, a cricket bat from Sir Don Bradman, but the collection of his coach’s coins is something he treasures a lot.

Sports presenter Jatin Sapru tweeted a photograph of those 13 coins in a hollow carved out cricket bat.
