It was such an innings that even a capacity Indian home crowd at Kanpur couldn’t stop appreciating it. AB de Villiers heaved one over the mid-wicket fence in the last ball of the South African innings to not only help his side go past 300 but also bring up his 21st hundred in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). Coming into bat in the 24th over, after opener Hashim Amla was cleaned-up by Amit Mishra, de Villiers went on to score an unbeaten 104 from only 73-balls, an innings that contained five fours and six sixes. Earlier, de Villiers brought up his half-century from 54-balls and went on to score the next 54 from only 17-balls. He was particularly severe on the seam bowling trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and Stuart Binny. The de Villiers show helped South Africa to 303 for 5 from 50 overs.
