Neighbours Australia and New Zealand enjoy a very intense sports rivalry and when the sides clashed for the Rugby World Cup final at London on Saturday, it was their third World Cup final meet this year. Australia beat New Zealand to lift the Cricket World Cup at Melbourne earlier this year and just over two months back they beat their little neighbours to lift the netball World Cup. However, when it comes to rugby, it’s different.
New Zealand’s rugby side, All Blacks, are by far the best team in the world and coming into this World Cup they were the defending champions and they did no harm to their reputation as they beat their arch-rivals The Wallabies in the rugby World Cup final. Not only New Zealand became the first side to lift the World Cup on consecutive occasions but also the only team to lift the Rugby World Cup thrice. When Black Caps wished All Blacks ahead of their Rugby World Cup final against arch-rival Australia!
The cricketers from across the world especially the ones from Australia, New Zealand, England and South Africa followed the contest keenly and spoke out their opinions on Twitter.
When @DanCarter takes his final conversion right footed… #skillschool #priceless
