ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Supreme Court gives green signal to Doordarshan to telecast India matches, semi-final and final

The Supreme Court on Friday in its ruling said that national broadcaster Doordarshan (DD) can broadcast team India’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 matches free of cost. The apex court dismissed the appeal of Star Sports, the official broadcasters of the tournament in India and also said the Prasar Bharti can share the feed with cable operators. According to a report by NDTV Sports, Prasar Bharti had approached SC after Delhi High Court ruled that Doordarshan can’t share the feed freely with cable operators. The apex Court had stayed the high court order so that the viewers could watch the high voltage clash of India-Pakistan.
