Kapil Dev and former World Cup team-mates coach Ranveer Singh and cast of Hindi film '83

Hindi film superstar Ranveer Singh has taken to his latest project, based on the Indian cricket team's success at the 1983 World Cup in England, with expected gusto and has been posting pictures from the film's stint in Dharamsala over the past few days. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film titled '83 stars Ranveer as India's World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev and has an ensemble cast to make up the team that beat the mighty West Indies at Lord's on June 25, 1983 in one of the greatest sporting upsets of all time. Members of the victorious 1983 World Cup-winning team, including Kapil, Amarnath, Sandhu and Yashpal, have been training the cast of '83 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala this month. Ranveer posted a series of photos and videos on his social media handles over the past week.

Also featured in '83 are Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Ammy Virk as Balwinder Sandhu, Jiiva as Kris Srikkanth, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Vijay Varma as Roger Binny, Harddy Sandhu as Madan Lal, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Dhairya Karwa as Ravi Shastri, Adinath Kothare as Dilip Vengsarkar, Dinker Sharma as Kirti Azad, R Badree as Sunil Valson and Pankaj Tripathi as PR Man Singh, the manager of the 1983 Indian team. Ranveer, the box-office draw of hits such as Bajirao Mastani, Padmavaat, Simmba and this year's Gully Boy, headlines the much-awaited sports drama that is slated for release in 2020.

The film is the latest sports biopic to be come out of Bollywood, after the successful features such as Dangal, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Gold, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Chak de India! and Mary Kom to name a few.
